The Elves leave Tempax, their reasons and methods for doing so lost to history.
Roughly within this hundred-year span, during a spring, some surviving documents are noted as mentioning 'The Exodus of the Elves.' Since the elder race's return, these documents have been reviewed with a new eye; they were dismissed as fanciful writings before, given the stark lack of historical evidence of elves as anything other than imaginative conjurations of an earlier time.
