Lendarian

Sailing on the plains of Liyume, soaring throuigh the silvery clouds over the mountains of Voronta, and galloping on their starry coatis, the Lendarian keep their nomadic roots alive. They never stay in a single place for long, and often interact with the other cultures by bringing news, wisdom, and music. Some say the Lendarian don't have a home, but they disagree—for a Lendarian, home is wherever they are.

The mother of all cultures

Many Lendarian claim all other cultures in Telumar descended from them. This is at least partially true, as both the seafaring Azra and the mountain-dwelling people of Voronta can directly trace their origins to the Lendarian. Some vague evidence points to the subterranean society of Grothon being a Lendarian offshoot too. Still, while claiming to be the mother of all cultures is probably an exaggeration, the Lendarian's influence on the world is undeniable.

Freedom and ingenuity

While the Lendarian don't live in the rough environments of Voronta or Turuvua—after all, being nomadic means you don't have to stay in dangerous places—, living in the outskirts of society has made the Lendarian and crafty and clever people. Foreigners are often surprised at the complexity of their invention, especially when it comes to methods of transportation. From tents that transform into hot air balloons to skiffs that sail on the endless plains of Liyume, they have mastered the art of the journey.
Still, their vehicles rarely make it to other societies, as the Lendarian rarely prioritize efficiency. They are a free people and, to them, freedom means not having to rush to the next stop. They simply travel because life itself is like a river, and staying for too long in a single place will inevitably end in stagnation.

The Song of Time

Art is a very important pillar of Lendarian culture, especially music and storytelling, which are often combined. New Lendarian songs are composed constantly, and having a song accepted by the Council of Clans is considered the highest of honors. When such a song is accepted, it becomes part of the Song of Time: an incredibly long song that has existed since Time Immemorial and has grown throughout the centuries. The song is so old that no one understands the lyrics of the earliest parts; but to this day, it's still sung in major Lendarian celebrations. Those who devote their life into learning and passing on the Song of Time as known as the Timekeepers.
Not all Lendarian music tells a story with words, though. Some music is purely instrumental, and they favor the Lendarian flute. Traditionally a solo instrument—but still capable of producing multiple voices—, Lendarian flute ensembles have become more popular in recent times.

The three clans

The Lendarian are grouped into three clans: the Air clan, the Earth clan, and the Star clan. Each clan is then further divided into families; groups with their own leaders that travel together. While changing clans very rare (other than through marraige), changing families is much more common, as the Lendarian don't place as much importantes onto biological family as other cultures.

Air

The Air clan is widely known for their unique method of transportation and encampment: the tents they sleep in turn into hot air balloons that let them travel all throughout Telumar. They carry few belongings with them as balloons can only hold so much weight; their tendency to disregard material wealth and their disconnection from the surface world has given them a reputation for being philosophical, wise, and spiritual.

Earth

The Earth clan sails through the plains of Liyume with their grass skimmers. These vehicles use kites for wind propulsion and a rudder for direction. The rudder, as well as the base of the vehicles, is soaked in an arcane substance that makes the ground act like a liquid around it. The Earth clan can also be seen in other parts of Telumar, but most families prefer to stay within the plains, as skimmers can't easily handle harder terrain or steep slopes. When travelers want to traverse the plains, the Earth clan is usually happy to go with them, as they never miss a chance to learn about new stories and life experiences.

Star

The Star clan doesn't use any unique vehicle; instead, they ride on the backs of starry coatis and use the massive wool tusks to cary their belongings. They are the Lendarian clan most people are familiar with, as they enjoy travelling to cities and share their stories and music.

Communities

The Lendarian people are inspired by the Wanderborne community, but a Lendarian character could easily be from a variety of different communities too.
For example, a Loreborne character could be a Timekeeper or another figure of wisdom. Since the Lendarian let anyone join them, your character could originally be from a different culture (and therefore have any community that would fit it).
