    The sacking of Joramotu
    Disaster / Destruction

After sustained pressure from Gruumshish Tribes raiding from the south, Joramotu was finally sacked in 468 FA and most who survived were taken as slaves. Without guidance from the capital, the relatively untouched northern districts dissolved into bickering principalities within a generation.

    Rise and Fall of Merat
    Era beginning/end

Founded by First Swordsworn Kalumi after his successful conquest of the area. After driving out nomadic Gruumshish tribes and local warlords, Kalumi established a dynasty to rule according to a strict code of honor. In later years, frontier regions felt they were better off independent from allegedly decadent and ignoble rulers. Civil wars and secessions led to an eventual economic collapse that left the kingdom essentially powerless

Temple of Five Faces establishes Relec
    Founding

In the vacuum left by the collapse of Merat, Clerics of Erathis and Warlocks of the Five Faces of Erathis established a new order on the western coast of Telthien.  Guided by the dictates of their Divine patroness, the Temple's clergy subsumed most of what had previously been Merat under their authority.  Over the next decades they constructed an organized administrative state that expanded into the 'uncivilized' lands to the south. The Liturgical Council named their domain simply "Relec," meaning "the State" in their tongue.

    Theradite Conclave overthrows Relec
    Era beginning/end

Unsatisfied with the bureaucratic structure of Relec and accusing the Liturgical Council of bias against them, the Theradite Conclave succeeded in seizing power and establishing a confederacy of independent provinces. The Conclave was a large group of sorcerers that had come to prominence in Relec during an attempt to utilize sorcerous magics to complement the divine magics of the Liturgical Council. The Provinces of Theradis were able to maintain order and defend from outside threats for several centuries but were eventually conquered by a crusade of followers of Erathis from the North.

    Relec Restored
    Political event

Lead by Erran, the Face of Justice himself, an army of devoted followers of Erathis and her Five Faces swept through the Provinces of Theradis. The bloodline magics of many Provincial rulers had dwindled to mere party tricks, leaving little resistance for one such as the Face of Justice. Once the old borders of Relec had been reclaimed and order reasserted Serek, Face of Law, took Erran's place as leader of the Liturgical Council. For the next millennium, New Relec was governed with absolute adherence to their laws as no official could get away with corruption under the ever-watchful gaze of Serek. It is not recorded how New Relec fell, although it is believed Serek was recalled to Hestavar in the mid 2500s FA.

    Collapse of Aerdi
    Disaster / Destruction

Little is known of Aerdi save for their status as a preeminent power among Theo-Arcanic City-States and their spectacular fall near the end of the First Age. It is recorded that the Archmagi of the city had come in conflict with a foreign circle of Archmagi, and that foreign group blighted their land and people as a show of force to other city-states.

Crops shriveled and died where they grew. Livestock fell ill and grew lethargic with throbbing pustules over their bodies. The Archmagi themselves were stupefied and came down with a foul wasting disease that killed them over the course of weeks. The people of the land were afflicted with a sickness of both mind and body leaving them unable to eke out what little there was left of the land.

Once the ruling Archmagi succumbed to their affliction the curse was lifted from the remaining common people, who fled the city for the surrounding wilderness. It is said that once abandoned, the very stones of Aerdi crumbled and fell into the sea for fear of the wrath of the Archmagi.
