The Angel of Time

At the moment of their deaths, five heroes were torn from their place in time by the Planetar Ahmzael. Each was a mortal of great power, supreme in skill.   Protagonists   Bjorn Bloodshield, a Half-Orc possessing the strength of the Wurm, and the heart of a Giant after having devoured the hearts of same. She was a warrior of primal savage strength, wit & fortitude, uncaring of fame & fighting only for her own glorious victory. The shadowkin, Sathym Rhomdarr. Warrior, scout and master of darkness. Where others would falter, his steadfastness would hold them true. The once King of Luddlan Nesrin Falkor. A figure of history, the once King of Luddlan ruled with steady but firm hand for the best part of 30 years before a rival saw to his death. Little is known of Fildo Nimblefingers other than what we saw that day. A talented speaker, a deft touch and the lightest of feet. And lastly, the hermit Barterum Boondiggles. His mastery of the weave unparalleled in pure destructive force.   Background   What is known is merely that which the Warded Twins were able to discern up to, and following the events of the Tempani's Return.   Tempani was of the highest order of angels, known as the Solars. Her eternal work, was to ensure the safety of Tellus from the influence of other realms. She selflessly served for millennia, keeping ever watchful, ever vigilant over that which we cannot even comprehend. Those that would destroy us all in a heartbeat. The years are long, however, and over time her work had become all consuming. Eventually she was convinced that the only way to save Tellus once and for all was to journey across to the far realms and strike at the very heart of what lay beyond. Taking with her a band of her most trusted warriors and companions, she retreated to a pocket plane, constructing a monastery fortress to learn all that she could about her foe.   Upon returning to the abode of Ahmzael, the keeper of the Tower of Time, she demanded the secrets he held. After speaking on her plans Ahmzael denied her request, knowing that his once-friend had changed and that the power she sought could be that which damned them. Tempani's wrath was swift, striking him and his companions down in swift retribution before destroying much of the Tower & retreating to her monastery.   Yet Ahmzael clawed to life, refusing to let Tempani's plans come to fruition he invoked a terrible, and forbidden magic, tearing 5 mortals from the time of their death. His offer, to them, a chance for one final chance to touch the world like no others could, yet knowing that succeed or fail their attempts would be forgotten. Using the last of his waning strength, Ahmzael teleported the unlikely companions to Tempani's temple. A final attempt to thwart her plans, yet dooming himself in the process.   Events   Tempani's stronghold beyond a great lake, guarded by 3 dragons, Balana, Baneri & Belanio, sons & daughters of the Great Lanturna herself. Their mother owed a great debt to Tempani from ages long ago passed and whilst they were apparently unaware of her intentions, their had resolved to repay their mother's debt no matter the cost. Using the powers of the shadowkin, the Dragons three lost sight of Ahmzael's chosen ones, and they entered the monastery proper.   Great battle had ensued within, Tempani's loyalists had struck out against those untainted few who stood against her and the toll had been heavy. Beings of life eternal, brought down in a flash. The chosen ones struck hard and fast, axe of Bjorn, blade of Nesrin, arrows of Fildo & Sathym and Barterum's spells tearing through the ranks of those left behind. One faithful being had survived however, Liari Goldenwrath. Having being bested by Tempani's attacks, she retreated within a protective circle, unable to be finished and left for dead. Liari was restored to power by the those adventurers.   By this stage, Tempani had retreated beyond to monastery through a portal of her own devising to the Far Realms themselves. The remainder of Tempani's corrupted loyalists had set up within the portal room, gathering supplies for what was to come. Liari and her new found allies plotted to best the the tainted ones and enter the portal to the plane beyond. Wings burning brightly once more, Liari called for the traitors to finish what they had started, whilst the others used the distraction to chase down Tempani. The last stand of Goldenwrath was a thing of beauty, raw unimaginable devotion & strength of will against an unassailable foe of power beyond.   Much life was lost - but much life was saved, for what else must have happened beyond the portal? We are still here, I am still writing this record and Time continues on.
