Beetmeister
Each autumn, the people of Pax gather near the banks of rivers great and small to celebrate what the people have collectively decided to call The Beet Jam. It is a food-centered holiday, celebrating both the harvest, and humanity surviving the Impact.
Officiating at these proceedings are what the locals half-jestingly call the "Beetmeister". It is the Beetmeister that kicks the festival off, by downing a mug of ale or mead, and it is the Beetmeister that heads up all of the tasting for judging the food competitions. Throughout the year, the beetmeister is invited to weddings and parties, and to get the first sample of mead or ale from breweries large and small. They are considered good luck, and often invited for a drink by strangers, or asked to attend someone's family cookout, to bring good luck for the next year and a day.
