Aestra Hjaal (aestra hj-aal)
The star-struck home of wood-elves of Phorex Isles. Originally chosen for its high perched view of the astral sky during night, the elves of Aestra Hjaal have undergone plenty of hardships and are nearing such events that might cause the settlements permanent destruction through the withering of its very people.
The history of Aestra Hjaal is the tale of elven adventurers, bold and willing to meet up with their new-found friends on their own lands. As the friendship between humans and wood elves began blooming, a small sect of wood elves challenged themselves and through mimicry of the boats humans had used in crossing the Herald Sea, the wood elves followed the seas to find the home and the birthplace of the humans; Phorex Isles.
Islands teeming with exotic life and dangerous predators, the wood elves who ventured here felt at home. The following years were spent exploring, and a much-respected druid at the time named Trir-Oeth-Ainnirn-Fae recognised that their time of passing away was close. As a last gift to his kin, Trir-Oeth-Ainnirn-Fae created the "Astral Mirror", a sacred pool in middle of the arid desert cliffside for the elves to gather and to replenish themselves.
With the wonder of a new land came new threats, especially after the words arrived of what humans had done to the Seafoam Reef and at the brewing conflict in Bravalon. Still unclear on how it would affect the human relations in Phorex Isles, the local elves continued coexisting with their neighbors cautiously.
Eventually the wood elves of Aestra Hjaal ventured into other islands of Cauldron of Creation as well, exploring much of the wilds and getting to know creatures and cultures that humans had long since forgotten or shunned away from their lands. These ages brought forth new innovative ship designs from the elves, used mainly in the warm waters of Cauldron of Creation.
Currently, the elves of Aestra Hjaal are a husk of what they used to be. With most of the village in shackles by the slaving mercenary company The Golden Company , the elves population is slowly falling due to outside threats and pressure.
