Tathariel
Land of the Blessed
Tathariel, a continent of enchantment and boundless wonder. Divided by a majestic mountain range that runs from east to west, the continent unfolds its diverse landscapes to those who seek its beauty.
To the south of the towering mountains lies a symphony of ecosystems that moves in harmony with the sun's gentle touch. Lush tropical forests, vibrant river plains, and sweeping savannas come alive with the rustling of leaves and the calls of exotic creatures. A vast desert stretches across the land, its shifting sands an intricate canvas painted by the wind. Enormous rivers flow through this enchanting realm; one culminates in a sprawling delta, a testament to the life-giving force of water. In the southwestern corner, a colossal swamp thrives with lush greenery, where mysterious creatures find refuge in the shadows. Amid the landscapes, a large area of sulfur-rich springs, geysers, and hot spots emit vapors that blend with the lushness of the surroundings, forming a stark yet breathtaking contrast.
To the north of the large divider, Tathariel unfolds its verdant embrace in temperate biomes that reflect the essence of life's endless cycle. Steppes and fertile grasslands stretch endlessly, inviting herds of creatures to graze and roam freely. Vast forests stand like sentinels, whispering ancient tales to those who dare to listen. The mineral-rich mountains rise tall, and rivers and streams flow merrily through the land, nourishing the soil and carving the very essence of life itself. Three great lakes, more akin to inland seas, mirror the boundless skies above—a haven for aquatic creatures and a source of serenity for those who venture to their shores.
In the First Age, the elves of Tathariel embarked on a journey of exploration, their hearts intertwined with the rhythm of the land's heartbeat. They wandered through every corner of this paradise, marveled at the symphony of life that unfolded before them, and forged an unbreakable bond with the natural world. As they traversed the continent's lush landscapes—from the dense jungles of the south to the pine-covered forests of the north—the elves reveled in the treasures and secrets that Tathariel held close to its heart.
In the end, the elves found their place of solace and settlement in the warmer and more stable climate of the south. Their reverence for the land, its creatures, and its harmony became a guiding light for their culture. Yet, even as humans began to venture into the northern realms of Tathariel during the Fourth Age, the spirit of the "Land of the Blessed" persisted. The term Tathariel came to be associated mainly with the southern region, where the elves guarded their ancient homeland, creating a sanctuary that upheld their values of coexistence with nature.
