The Nature of the Gods
The gods of Tascallon are all powerful entities in their own right. The vast majority of them also possess a massive form, so large they cannot manifest their full form within a singular plane outside their domains without catastrophic rifts occurring in their wake. If Hangatyr is to be used as a measure, it can be assumed that all the gods are about the same size as the Material Plane, save for the Dwarven Neue Götter, who live in the deepest portions of the world. The other gods must instead rely on emanations to directly influence planes. An emanation can interact with mortals as if it were a person, and act as a projection of the deity's will. An emanation can be fought and destroyed, but to kill a god one would have to be within the World Tree, and able to face the deity in their full form. The gods do not draw power from worship in Tascallon. Instead, they have an innate desire to spread their influence through various means. Whether it be an enforcement of justice, a wanton act of cruelty, or the perpetuation of any ideal, a god will attempt to mark the world with their domain. As a result, they are ready and willing to take on mortal followers, as they too will spread their influence, at next to no cost to the god in question.
Interacting with Mortals
The gods did not make their will immediately apparent on the Material Plane, save for Hangatyr's sons, who banded together to safeguard it from the Dread Wolf. Once they realized mortal races were flocking to the Hanging God, they were quick to exert their influence. With mortals finally gathered in a central location, tracking down followers became increasingly easy. The gods, though reluctant to divulge the true nature of the plane, where nonetheless grateful to Hangatyr for this reason alone.
