Baelnorn
For some Sky Elves, a lifetime of beauty is not enough. Particularly powerful artists among those living in the Skywall will perform a ritual on themselves to grant them a state of sublime undeath, becoming known as a Baelnorn. By binding themselves to a divine oath to the The Sky Patrons, Baelnorns dedicate even their death to the pursuit of their chosen craft. These are incredibly rare cases. When one becomes a Baelnorn, the Skywall itself seems to respond, an echo resounding through the winding halls and districts.
Baelnorns operate on similar principals to liches. As long as they are performing their art, they cannot truly die. If killed, their soul leaves their corporeal form to inhabit something resembling their art. This could be a painting, a sculpture, an instrument, or even a weapon. They stay within that item for as long as they please, some never leaving. Their physical form may reconstitute over time, but if the baelnorn sees no reason to return to it, they may just remain possessing their item.
