The Eons Spider
Lurking in the deep, cold darkness, away from the prying eyes of man, left to fester and grow, only appearing as a nightmare for young children. There are some things, that when they go bump in the night, it's far, far too late to run.
Summary
Born from the fears of man, or perhaps from the birth of the original spiders, no one but the gods know how this abomination came to existence, but none can bring themselves to go out and hunt the creature out of fear of what it may, or may not do. The reason for this unreasonable fear stems from old, old stories, which depicted the creature as a wicked evil, killing and eating any living creature that came within a mile of its lair, spreading a thin, unnoticeable web throughout the surrounding area, which are as strong as steel. This is seen as nothing more than a tale to scare kids from running off, but no one can say for sure, as no one is stupid enough to go to it's home and check. Not that anyone even remembers where it could even be, but the most common depiction places its home in the CoreBreak Mountains.
Historical Basis
This tale goes farther back than the kingdom of Brotar, stretching back to some of the first peoples that existed. The first story told of the grandson of the first Goliath, Igdrakneel Rormirear, who braved throughout the lands, searching for new, and better places for his family, along with a few of his good friends, Liptinhart Ironfoot, a strong, upright fellow, who saw Igdrakneel as family, Tyntrikhar Uphindale, an agile, female hunter, adept at sneaking in the shadows, and soon to be wife of Igdrakneel, and finally, Myrtarhall Tarklir, a shifty warrior, who was never too shy to speak his mind, and never seems too polite.
The story told of the small group moving through the lands, until they finally came across the CoreBreak Mountains, which seemed harmless on the onset, and even after a month of purveying the mountains, it seemed like a place of beauty, and wealth, and the whole party agreed that this would be a profitable home for their people, and settled to choose this place as their peoples new homes. They just needed to finish their scouting for one more week, and they would be on the way.
The first day went fine, as the group scouted ahead, but kept tripping up on seemingly invisible objects, but ignored it, considering it to be nothing more than an effect of exhaustion. The next day came, and they could not help but notice that one of their own, Liptinhart, had disappeared, leaving behind nothing, and leaving behind no tracks. They spent the next day searching for their friend, but could make no sense of it. He was strong, capable, and while albeit not witty, he could surely hold his own, they thought. They finished up their search concluding that he had merely taken to heading home to tell their people to begin readying for the long journey to the mountains, and so, they continued their scouting.
Another day passed, and they saw no more odd occurrences, and hadn't lost another comrade, but still, the sense of dread could not help but to be noticed. As they took to resting, Marshall decided to keep awake, and keep lookout, so that they aren't ambushed by any creature that may or may not appear, and so Igdrakneel, and Tyntrikhar agreed, and fell asleep, resting assured that their friend would keep them safe.
Their fourth day came, and as Igdrakneel and Tyntrikhar awoke, they almost immediately noticed the absence of their friend, and instead, in his place their sat a note which read "Friends, I can hear it whisper in the night. I must answer its call. Do not worry for me, as I will be with something far greater than we could ever imagine." Reading this, they became extremely distressed, worrying that they may be being hunted, and the note is nothing more than a fake to keep their minds at ease. They decide to scout the rest of the mountains, and then be gone by the morrow, whether they are truly finished or not. They rush to finish, getting tripped up by the invisible objects, but now they appeared to be everywhere. They couldn't take a single step without tripping, or bumping into some invisible force that seemingly did not want them there. The decided to rest for the day, and leave on the morrow. They laid their weary heads down after finding a cave to hide in, and drifted off.
In the middle of the night, Igdrakneel awoke to the shrill screams of Tyntrikhar, but he could not see her, peering deep into the cave, and seeing nothing more than 8 fierce twinkling white dots shift back and forth violently in the pitch darkness, taking only instances to puff out, before almost instantly reappearing. He found himself mesmerized by the dots, and without any further thought, he felt his consciousness drift away, and the screams of his dear fiance quickly hushed as he began to walk towards the brilliant dots.
As he approached, he could feel his consciousness slip back to him as he got a few feet from the dots, but it was far too late as the dots grew in intensity, and illuminated a dark, fuzzy black face in the form of a hulking arachnid, with 4 eyes of each side of its rounded face, all of them appearing to possess the brilliance, and form of the cosmos. As he felt the control of his mind suddenly slip away, and his will come back again, it had been too late, as the hulking spider sank its long, sharp fangs into his neck, running its ghastly fluids into him, rendering him unconscious, and putting him into a state of comatose.
The creature then did the same to Tyntrikhar, before spindling them up, rolling them in its strong, unseeable silk, and storing them for later consumption along with their allies, Myrtarhall, and Liptinhart. Whether they were eaten, or simply stored to mentally torment, that isn't known, as they were never found in the mountains, and no one dares to look.

Spread
This tale spreads far and wide in goliath and human civilizations, but doesn't get stoked much in other races society's.
The orcs have heard the tale, and have appropriated it in their own society's, twisting the goliaths into orcs to match themselves, and twisted it to where they slayed the beast, and suffered no casualties.

Variations & Mutation
The orcs, having heard about the story twisted it, and in there version there was only a single orc named "Krushthrawker", who slayed the beast. After the tale became popular in orc society's at around 3500 IDX the orcs began putting the legendary orcs visage on posters, and all forms of art, and mothers named their sons after him in his honor.
In Literature
In human civilizations, the story influences how they perceive terrors in most stories, making the Eons Spider a threat in a lot of folk lore, nursery rhymes, and threats to keep children obedient.
In Art
Most art of this tale is depicted in grandiose sculptures made by Goliaths, who choose to believe that Igdrakneel fought bravely, killing the beast, at the cost of his life, so their sculptures depict the muscular goliath, with wounds covering his body, slaying the creature by ripping its abdomen from its socket, killing the creature.
Humans also depict this tale in paintings. They usually depict in in its most common telling of Igdrakneel being slain after fighting for his life, but many humans also believe the goliaths version, depicting Igdrakneel as killing the beast in a variety of different ways: Some depict him beating it to death with a rock, while others depict him strangling the beast with its own silken thread, decapitating the creature.
