Medaeus Facilities (Meh-day-uhs)

Summary
What started as the philosophy of a few became the provider of treatment and care for people all across Tarris 7. Pioneered by Juno Medaeus, a Half-Drakenkin Apothecary, Medaeus facilities are hubs for all walks of life to find cures to what ailed them. From simple remedy clinics to fully staffed and supplied hospitals, the movement Juno started swept across the world and made care for the common folk more accessible than ever.
Juno's Tale
Growing up in the region of Bazzuhl, Juno had a rough upbringing in the Imperial nation. His father was a Human and his mother was a Drakenkin. Juno and his mother were allowed refuge in the walls of Crysten; his home city, because his mother had been married to his father before he was born. For those Drakenkin or other non-Human folk in Crysten, they were not as fortunate. Juno would typically move with his head down under a cloak and cowl and keep to himself as he went to and from home, school and any stops he'd make to the local market for his family. From under his hood, he'd catch glimpses of scowling passer-bys or head a snarky remark about his Drakenkin descendance. Despite this, he kept to his work in Apothecarian study and focused on his goal of using his skills to help others like him.   During a Fall season in Bazzuhl, when he was around 22 years old and graduated from school, a virulent sickness spread across the land and a spur of cases began to affect Crysten. The borders to the city were sealed in response, but the sickness had already spread to many of the citizens within, including Juno's father. He fell morbidly ill and could no longer work to provide for the family. Surprisingly, Juno and his mother seemed unaffected by the sickness; maybe due to their Drakenkin bloodline.   Juno took up work as a stable-hand for one of the city transit businesses; it was hard labor, but what he could get as his kind in Crysten. He brought back money to his mother to help pay for his father's medicine, but she was waiting on paperwork from the government health department so they could acquire the medicine. They couldn't afford to wait much longer; his father's condition was worsening each day and the normal herbal remedies they'd use had no effect. No Dispensary or medical facility would take him in though; they needed that paperwork to be admitted.   In desperation, Juno met discretely with an off-the-grid healer. A strange man in a beaked mask with a metal arm. He described the situation to them and they inquired about the father's blood type. Juno didn't know; he and his family couldn't afford the fees for the papers to see the Crystenian doctors for check-ups. The healer was reluctant to offer the remedy, warning that he couldn't guarantee it would work without knowing his father's blood type. He accepted the risk with a nod and cooperated with the healer to produce the remedy. A sample of his blood, distilled extract of herbs and a hint of powder produced a pink liquid in a syringe; the healer gave it to Juno and made their way out of their meeting place. Afterward, Juno carefully made his way home and told his mother about the remedy. She was reluctant at first, but if it had a chance of saving her husband she'd take it and let Juno administer the remedy.   The next morning, the Medaeus family woke to see father was well. He was happy to be healthy again, but figured his sudden wellness may attract the attention of the Crystenian authority. To prevent their son from being found out and taken away, his mother and father convinced him to flee the city with his tools, rations, supplies, cloak and cowl. After a sorrowful goodbye, Juno went off and paid the transit business for a horse. He left the city by blending in with a departing caravan and headed for Nizulchran, where he could start a new life and fulfill his dream.
The Medaeus Method: Following and Founding
After a rough start in Nizulchran, Juno found work as an Apothecary; able to set up shop in a small town. Business was enough to keep income coming in and after-hours he would spend time writing books about his medicine and observations he'd recorded. He believed that everyone deserved a chance at health and made the message clear that restrictive medicine led to desperate measures. From his own life story, findings and proposed calls to action, he gained a following with Apothecaries, Pothemancers and healers far and wide. His rising popularity allowed him to host seminars to teach of his techniques with herb, mineral and simple tools. He was also able to share his message of healing for all.   Those most adamant and believing of his message set up facilities in his name to spread his work across Tarris 7. Some made humble clinics while others banded their resources and skills together to create fully supplied hospitals. These buildings were maintained and established rules according to their leading personnel/groups, so your treatment and requirements could vary from building to building. One thing that remains constant however are the core beliefs Juno Medaeus held when beginning his ventures.
  • Healing should be available to all; no matter the kin or the circumstance.
  • Help should not be denied to any person, but we should still uphold justice in our lands.
  • We are healing for the people, by the people. We will protect our patients, people and promise should needs arise.
  •   And so with his life's work in motion, Juno Medaeus settled in Nizulchran permanently; near the first Medaeus hospital "Opus Medaeus". On occasion, he travels from town to town and continent to continent, spreading his message of healing for all. He checks in with his fellows' facilities and assists them in any way he can so they may continue their mission.

This is a great concept, and I love the idea of a physician devoting their life to making health care as accesible as possible.   Do you have articles for some of the places mentioned, or a map that shows how they all relate to one another? Linking those would def make the article feel a bit more in depth and make the world easier to navigate.
