Session 1 Report
General Summary
As you step out of the dark crypt you shield your eyes from the harsh noon sun. You are met by the familiar dower face of Fenris thrice-cursed, His foot placed on the back of another unconscious cultist, as he ties them up. Looks like he must have tracked you to this old cemetery outside of Westlight.
After leaving the crypt, our heroes ran into another companion Fenris Thrice Cursed Who Chad had previously hired as a guide since he is in unfamiliar lands. With the group now all together they headed to the nearby city of West Lamplight.
The first order of business was to recuperate at the local Inn Bargoyles Inn . The place was quite busy and full of locals and travelers alike, so the group began to relax. Each was given a flagon of ale by the kind proprietor Gwendylyn the good witch. Fenris decided to sit next to a table of unwelcoming merchants, Chad chatted with Tim, Bernice stealthily stole some more booze using her mage hand then sat alone by a Bard near the fireplace, Kain made friends with and hired a boisterous Barbarian woman named Gormia Gewalsh, and Marigold began asking Gwendolyn about and rumors of cults or Jobs. Now Gwendolyn being a witch took a keen interest in the Witch Bottle Marygold produced but showed it had no effect on her. She informed Marrygold that the bottle was likely made to keep the witch of the forest Grizzelda away. Chad would seek to hire the services of the bard Maximillian Myers, but he had a prior engagement.
After some time and further drinking, our party was sauced and ready to take on some new adventure. They inspected the quest board outside the Inn and in combination with a request from Gwendolyn decided to go next door to assist the local Brewer Archibald Bipperman who was having a pest problem.
Entering the Brewery, they were greeted by an exasperated Archibald who led them to the barricaded basement, as it seemed these were not normal pests. Entering the dark BAsement Marrygold ruined my encounter plan by smartly casting Ferry Fire and revealing some of the rats lurking in the shadows gorging themselves on hops and spilled booze. Now able to see the rats a battle broke out with Marrygold, Gormia, Chad, and Bernice on the front lines, while Kain, Fenris and Tim supported from the rear! With Tim's encouragement, Chad cut through dozens of vicious swarming rats, with the rest being scattered by Bolts and spells! But one spell would go arwy, A loose fire bolt immolated a group of rats that found themselves standing in a pool of alcohol. The fire raged as the battle continued with the leader of the rats Rathew appearing now illuminated by flame. Letting an arrow loose from their short bow Rathew would give Chad a brutal wound finding a gap in his armor. With Chaos breaking out but the majority of the rats defeated Gormia and Percival would tend to the fire, while everyone else dog-piled Rathew until finally, Bernice would throw an acid splash at their head, allowing Marrygold to lop it clean off in the following move!
The infestation was defeated, but Fenris noticed traces of blood from what appeared to be a previous fight. Following it to the far wall of the basement they would discover a passage dug by the rats that lead into the sewers. Unfortunately, some poor soul who took the job previously had met their end and was dragged into the wretched place.
Archibald beckoned the party upstairs and gave them their reward as well as a parting pint of ale on the house! Our Party would then return to the Inn their accommodations complimentary for a job well done assisting the Aleworks and Bargoyles by proxy!
