Draconis
'"Hhhhssskkk foolish half-man, you dare impede usssss. Gulagor must be appeassssed, thissss community hasss been chossssen for the feed and feasst! You cannot sssttop ussss!" The strange lizard being began to chant, motioning to its other three companions to rush and destroy the fool halfling.
A deep feline snarl came from the trees above the shaman, rumbling like the beginnings of an earthquake. Feline eyes glared down, fangs gleamed in the shadows, the tell-tale orange-black stripe pattern visible, but only just. The halfling let out a laugh, high, happy, amused. "You really don't get it, do you. You are guests here, scaled one. You are a visitor. But me?" the brown hood over the small being's head fell away, his eyes glowing a leafy green, the very vines and tangled root systems shifting, moving out as if at his orders. "Whereas, myself? I am a child of this swamp."
Composition
Manpower
Only 1000 of these strange druids are believed to be fully enlisted and serving.
Equipment
Other than a simple brown plant fibre woven robe and generally a simple quarterstaff, their magic is their equipment
Weaponry
Magic, and generally a quarterstaff.
Vehicles
No vehicles, but they generally have a bestial companion. No one really understands it, least of all the druids themselves, but it always seems some natural beast becomes...attached to the druid, in an almost supernatural fashion.
Structure
None truly or fully understand how these druids handle their business of a command structure, who's in charge of where. But we do know that at the top, the voice of the druids, the First Druid Sensis Kell'vani is their elder.
Tactics
Very instinctual, almost animalistic with their tactics. They work alone normally, except for the beast that bonds to them. It is very rare, and a sign of great troubles coming, to have more than one druid working the same area. They are an inherently anti social bunch, believing that most do not respect our world enough.
Training
Everything about this training is kept an absolute secret, None truly know how these 'Children of the Swamp' find their candidates,
Logistics
Logistical Support
These druids, even on the scale of every other nation's elite forces, seem almost terrifyingly self sufficient. They are so distant, so purposely set back from the rest of Kang-Chorath's forces, many of the common folk and even common soldiery sometimes wonder if they actually serve the nation or just...have parallel interests.
Auxilia
These powerful natural magi, these skilled practitioners of ancient arts, weaving power from the Elemental Winds themselves, do not go and seek assistance. They summon and call assistance to themselves.
Upkeep
The cost is exceedingly low, so far as anyone is aware, none of these 'Children of the Swamp' are paid coin of any kind, and almost never have to be provided equipment or supplies.
Recruitment
Truthfully no one truly knows. They seem to just....continually renew their ranks without any trace.
History
Unlike the other nations, whom can trace the growth and establishment of their elite military units, Kang-Chorath came home to these 'Children'. None truly know how they survived, but they did. They not only survived the Sundering, they seemingly thrived. They wander the marshes and jungles, none truly know where they call home. But they protect the people, fight against any and all Twisted Beings, and viciously and ferociously oppose anything even remotely Abyssal tainted. So a healthy, if not fully understood, agreement came to exist between the nation of Kang-Chorath and the Children of the Swamp.
Historical loyalties
To Kang Chorath, but also to Mother and Father, and their first Seven children, the Primal Creators, known by most as only the 'Old' Gods, or the 'Forgotten' Gods
