Acque Morte
If a life of peace you seek, find a home in a village. While the shoreline surrounding the Claw Continent is safe enough, the sea is a dangerous place to travel. There are multiple locations between continents where shipwrecks occur more often than not. Fewer than half of the long-term expeditions have returned in the last century. The Acque Morte is one of these locations. It exists on the western side of the bridge between Orie Country and the Claw Continent. While a small region, remains of missing ships are never recovered from this area.
Perhaps a little spice is necessary, why not live in the city?
For a life of adventure, best become an Acquisitionist and discover artifacts of unknown power. It's dangerous but you'll live another decade. Probably.
But, please, for the love of Malmi, not the sea. There lies a brief adventure and a long death.
The Dangers
The region known as Acque Morte has all of the typical hazards of the sea. Here are a few oddities found in the Abyss of Death:The Boneship
As magic forced its way onto the land, so too did it seep into the dense ocean floor. The flow of magic aggregated the bones of fish and sailor alike, ultimately amassing into a massive Boneship. None have seen a crew, only an eerie glow in the distance as it sank another ship. Few remember a time before the Boneship sailed the seas. In the last century, the Boneship has sunk more ships than any pirate vessel, including the pirate queen.Impossible Weather
Magically altered storms have become a seasonal issue for inland residence. On the seas, however, a Magic Storms can occur at any time. In addition to impacting the intensity of the weather, storms at sea can drain the strength of a fighter and the potency of a sorcerer's magic. Sufficiently powerful magic items can help balance the scales, but their power is drained during the storms as well.Maelstrom
During periods of low weather effects, whirlpools naturally form in this region. During magic storms, the whirlpools upgrade to maelstroms.
Option 1: Thunderstorm, perhaps with a waterspout and a faintly glowing ship in the distance.
Option 2: The boneship.
