Before time, before gods and men, before anything and everything, there was only Vardinr (the void) and the Oakati (the three primordial elements). The Oakati were Kerú (ice), Rast (fire) and Opr (stone). In Vardindr, Opr formed Úta (seed/beginning), the cave from which all things originate. Above Úta, Kerú lived and spread downward until icicles hung from the ceiling of the cave. Beneath Úta, Rast burned brightly, warming Opr until the icicles began to melt and formed a puddle in the cave. From these primordial waters, the first of the beings arose, the grandfathers of the gods, who created all the realms except Tarakom. They were without body, without shape, without mind, without will and without knowledge. They were the essences of the universe, and it is from them that all things come, and it is within all things that they exist.
