What lies Below

General Summary

This session begins in Archimima. Rumors from the guards that the Slaad down in the aquifer have been seen peeking outside. Trenric takes Jacoby on a night watch with the guards, nothing occurs. The pair investigate further the next morning and find signs that the slaad have in fact been expanding and are becoming bolder. While scouting in spider form, TRenric sees many blue slaad and a few red slaad. The Duke's reluctance to take action in times of crisis is becoming more apparent by this point. Trenric gathers the usual party Jacoby, Ulysses, Grian, and Rond along with Captain Glenroy and 2 other guards. Captain Glenroy and the 2 guards stand sentry at one end of the aquifer while the others clear the other way as it's a circle. Jacoby and Ulysses are at the front of the narrow passageways guiding the rest of the party. The 2 manage to sneak up on some of the slaad for surprise attacks, however, their luck is not the best today. Mistakes were made and injuries were to be had, Ulysses was hurt badly and Jacoby was infected with the Chaos Disease. The party quickly finish up clearing the rest of the encampment filled with slaad and find a cavern that had been completely barricaded shut with green ooze seeping out. The knowledge of the party concurs that there is a large green slime inside the room. Trenric with his prior knowledge of the anatomy of slimes casts purify food and drink on the slime causing all the liquid to become potable water. The slime lost sentience and the water splashed to the floor allowing the party to finally clear the aquifer. It's at this point the party notices that all the slaad they killed were blue and didn't see the red one. In an instant, the party looked to the corner of where the slaad had set up camp to find the hole they crawled from and saw a red toad-like head as it disappeared back down the dark hole. Trenric turns into a bat and begins to go down the hole as quickly as possible, but it takes an extremely long time to get all the way down. Once the hole opened up to an absolutely massive cavern that spanned miles. The opening almost looked as though he were back outside but it was darker. The roof of the cave glittered with glowing crystals that looked similar to a bright start night. in the distance, lights could be seen and the outlines of what looked like civilization. just below the landing area there, Trenric spotted a camp full of slaad, it seemed as though it was a much larger tribe than what was thought. At this point, Trenric decided he had already been gone long enough and began the long ascent back up. About an hour and a half had passed when he finally returned to the surface of the hole. The party was worried but without a way to get down could do nothing. Trenrick updated them about the situation and Rond wedged a large boulder between the entrance of the hole and the roof of the aquifer. Nothing could move the boulder from below and it would take much strength the move it from above if needed. With the Aquifer now actually clear and the issue dealt with, for the time being, the party seeks the rest and healings of the Bathouse. There the wounds of the party were healed, and Jacoby is cured of the Chaos disease which would have seen him turned into a slaad himself. The long few days end at the Roaring Mug Tavern as per usual with the party discussing the capability of Duke Vanderhiems leadership of Archimima.   Healing Bathhouses
