Half-elf
'Half-elf' is a classification rather than a strict bloodline. It includes any person born of one elf parent (or, in some cases, grandparent, if the elvish features are considered prominent enough) and one parent of another lineage. Historically, the elves were a separatist people particularly concerned with bloodlines - a characteristic still found to a greater or lesser extent in some modern communities - so any elven heritage was considered to be of more importance than any lineage inherited from the non-elven parent.
