Eskessir Edrafan
Eskessir Edrafan: Fiend of the Four Seas
Tanerans first took to the seas long before living memory, and for the whole of that time pirates have prowled its waters. Each age has seen its share of monsters - but of the last hundred years, Edrafan is surely one of the most fearsome.
His origins, like so many in these pages, are shrouded in hearsay, so I will offer you only the facts: he began his dubious career on The White Dragon (an ironic start, perhaps, given his appearance) under the captaincy of Janil Crossa, followed by stints on The Judge's Mercy, The Triton, and The Horror - as First Mate - before taking ownership of The Carrion in around 813. There he dedicated himself to building up a crew almost as merciless as himself.
To date he has been responsible for the taking of countless ships including, famously, The Gala and The Hope in 821. The two ships, travelling together under the royal banner of Alitrea, outmatched The Carrion in both size and weaponry, yet both fell to Edrafan’s hand in an astonishing display of tactics, skill, and sheer willpower - though some argue such success would be impossible without demonic magic.
As of publication, The Carrion continues to roam the Viani Sea.
