Bludynorian Constant Moon Faction

Hold fast to the word of the gods. It is a narrow path but leads to paradice.
— Saint Hershal

Three decades ago, the people of the city-states became interested in the heathen people who lived in the Highlands before them. Where once our culture had been dominated by the true religion, it started shifting towards sinful ideas. Rather than putting the gods at the center of life, they have chosen the joys of the flesh. This is what we, the Constant Moon Faction, fight against.

In order to avoid damnation and punishment of the spirit, everyone must adhere without wavering to Church doctrine. Within the faction, there is disagreement over if and how much we should force our beliefs upon those who have been seduced away from the correct path. Moderates believe that it is enough to follow the Church's teachings themselves. On the other hand, extremists believe they should force Bludynor back on the path of righteousness by any means necessary, including violence. Most of our fellowship lie somewhere in the middle. While they want the city to go back to the way it was due to the godless's influence on our children, they aren't ready to use violence.

While the author states that most of the faction isn't ready to use violence, there have been quite a few violent confrontations between them and the progressive New Moon Faction. This has led many houses, including the duke's own, to fortify their homes.

Culture

Culture and cultural heritage

This is where the crux of the issue exists. While we of the Constant Moon Faction recognize our ancestors were the Laoi Tawn Nayfawn, We want nothing from their heathen culture. To look to a culture that came before the Church of All Gods is backward. How could anything the scribes and natural philosophers are discovering from the Laoi's leavings be of value? From what our leaders can tell, demons have taken hold of these men and women. They are trying to seduce the entirety of Tanderia away from the truth. We will not allow this.

Some of the faction are so upset by the Laoi finds, they demand the faction destroy the artifacts. Six months ago, Bénard Ez Lantus, one of the loudest of the extremists, tried to burn art, manuscripts and other items. Some were artifacts and others were inspired by the Laoi finds. Before they could be arrested, he and a group of followers destroyed numerous pieces, mostly newly created art and manuscripts.

Shared customary codes and values

To worry about the physical realm is to forsake the spirit and place ones soul in jepardy of eternal damnation.
— Saint Gion

We, the Constant Moon Faction, know there will come a time of judgment for all people. Since the only sure path to salvation is the Church of All Gods, we adhere to its teachings faithfully. This includes unquestioning support of the patriarch and his edicts. Those who don't follow orthodoxy should be shown the error of their ways for their own good.

Since the flesh is temporary, it is weak and of lesser importance. Anything that enriches the worldly body and mind but not the spirit is wicked. This includes food, art, literature, clothing, and even beauty when all it does is provide pleasure. While food and clothing are necessary for life, it would be better to starve than descend into hedonism.

We strongly believe that hard work, whether intellectual or physical, is a good way to avoid the temptations of this world. If someone is busy with their profession, they aren't indulging in pleasure. While the poor often have to work harder to survive, this doesn't mean the rich are exempt. They should do charitable deeds if they have excess time.

Common Dress code

We believe in dressing in simple clothing in plain colors. While some members dye their clothes black, others leave the wool or linen undyed. Most agree that bleaching shirts and shifts white shows a desire towards purity and clean living.

While clothes should be simple, they should also be covering. Most wear high necklines, extra long sleeves, and floor length skirts. Both men and women should cover their heads. Finally, make-up and other beauty enhancements are strictly forbidden.

Rejecting beautifying the flesh should not be mistaken as permission to be slovenly. While vanity is a sin, stains, odors, and tatters are just signs of laziness. Even the poorest person can make the effort to be presentable.

Art & Architecture

Arts only purpose is to illistrate the teaching of the Church for the illiterate. All else is vain hedonism.
— Bernard Ez Lantus

One of the biggest controversies in Bludynor between the New Moon and the Constant Moon factions is art. Since creating art only for its aesthetic nature is sinful, the Constant Moon Faction attacks paintings without a religious theme. Memebers have even rejected some religious art. For instance, painting the Maiden of Flowers, Shammuramat, as a beautiful woman is rejected as immoral. The most extreme demand that all art destroyed.
