Worldember 2025 Homework Prep

Nervous and excited to be participating in my first WorldEmber! I am still on a high from winning a category for Summer Camp 2025, and I am wondering why I haven't participated in the events before this year. I could say time constraints, I could say fear that my work isn't good enough, each could be true, or not.

My Worldember 2025 Pledge

For my first WorldEmber endeavour, I pledge to :

Write at least 25K words in December on this project.
As I flesh out changes to our roleplaying community, TamerlaneRP, that began in 1999, and create a new wiki that also contains our historical storylines. Story lines are evolving, and new players with new ideas have changed the landscape of our world.   My scope of focus is primarily the new laws of magic and how they blend in with technology and science. I also need to rewrite the race and profession packages, so I hope to get to them before the end of Worldember.   Remember that self-care is productivity, and I should do so with zero guilt.   Family and friends matter, and during this holiday season, I will make sure I spend quality time with them.

Worldember Bingo Homework

While I picked the first line down on the bingo card, I decided to expand my horizons and explore other bingo prompts that sparked my creative energy and supported updates to this wiki and players' guide.

Greetings from the edge of the map — where kingdoms fall, hearts haunt, and the dark still dreams.

With Love, Inara

Review or collect your world inspirations.
The inspiration for TamerlaneRP has evolved over the years. Poe has always been a part of our gaming and role-play, bringing a little punk and enhancing the dark fantasy aspect.

Inspiration and Comparatives For TamerlaneRP:

  • Fantasy with Elves and other such beings
  • The works of Edgar Alan Poe
  • Penny Dreadful
  • The Dresden Files
  • Vampires, Werewolves, and Dwarfs, oh my!

    Tidy up your writing space

Nice and tidy currently, still set up for my November at home writing retreat. We shall see how the rest of November progresses, because there are days my pens, washi tapes, notecards, and notebooks sit out.

    Finish all your unfinished articles.

And we are complete. Sometimes you write yourself into a circle of nonsense... Please see the re-read section.

    Plan your world building playlist

I have the Spotify playlist linked in the sidebar. I may make a YouTube playlist since some of the writing music I listen to isn't on Spotify. Some videos can be found on our Meta Music page.

    Re-read your core articles.

The problem with re-reading your core articles can sometimes create more work for yourself.   Yep, that was me.   I wrote myself into a circle by not making sure the old content aligned with the current, evolved content. I had to edit and rewrite and edit again. I will probably have to rinse and repeat after I create the new articles I plan to write in December.

And now for something Fun and Inspiring

These are the other bingo choices on the card. I hope to finish as many as possible that inspire me by November 29. We shall see how things progress over November, with all the writing challenges underway.

Refresh your author page for new readers.
And I did, fixed my banner, added some other chitty chat type things. Not sure what else I need. Link opens in a new tab.
Check out my author's page! Let's be friends!

    Define your scope for Worldember

Defined above in my pledge section.

    Read a book

I read a lot, and by the time this page goes live, I will be reading a different book. I already made my TBR for December.

Make a list of articles to write.

I created a list of articles to write in my Obsidian vault, and I am glad I did. I started to create a to-do list in World Anvil, but since it created the actual article page with today's date, I deleted them all. I will add them to the WA to-do list after the event starts on December 1st.

    Join the community

I joined the World Anvil Discord server a couple of years ago. I don't talk much in there, but I like to emojifi happiness for other people's accomplishments. I love cheering on people.

    Verticle Row 3

    Create a mood board

I made one years ago, but with the changes, the old mood board is mostly irrelevant. If I get a chance, I will make a mood board. Right now it is not on the priority list of things to do.

    Review your world primer article

Basically, the primer is content on two pages. The homepage contains information about our group, themes, etc. The intro to the player's guide tells you what to expect.

    Free Space.

May or may not come up with an idea. Since it is not a free space, as it typically is in Bingo, I have not marked it yet.

    Plan your writing schedule.

Ironically enough, I have a writing schedule that I do every day, and have been doing for 30 years. It works for me. There are times when I have "free space" in my life that I can use to add more writing time.

    Review your world's visual appearance

I love TamerlaneRP's visual appearance. Better yet, it is cohesive with TamerlaneRP's main website.

    Verticle Row 4

Review or set up your world's homepage
The homepage makes me happy. I haven't changed or added anything to it. When the email list and VIP vault are ready with free extra content, I will add links to the sign-up page for them.

    Find an accountability buddy

I have some epic accountability buddies! Some are on World Anvil, but all of them are a part of the Raven Coterie. I also have accountability buddies here in the Springs and our epic weekly meetups.

    Prepare visual elements

This is always an ongoing, almost never-ending process, and while we have made some images using Poser and Daz, there are more to be created.

What are the people in your world like?

In Progress as a write up.

    Go for a walk

This is everyday, bro! If you pay attention, you see something new every day, even when you walk the same areas.

    Verticle Row 5

    Review your category tree.

The current category tree makes sense for our needs, and the articles that I am writing as I go forward. All categories and subcategories are visible in the site menu.

    Get some feedback.

Plenty of feedback given by the members of our community.

Make a list of stubs to expand

Faction - The Order of the Purple Flame
Faction - The Stylus Order of Scholarly Arts

    Do some pre-writing research.

Reading on how to make good magic and tech systems from a few books I purchased, and online classes on the subject.

    What adjectives describe your world?

Many adjectives describe our world and community.

  • Dark, Magical, Ancient, Diverse, Punk, Fantastical
  • Mysterious, Secretive, Conspiratorial, Conflict
  • Action-packed, Scholarly, Ancient Evil, Tech-infused
  • And community wise, Cozy, Friendly, Family

I read this and it was easy to hear you saying it. You typed like you talk, especially being "Chitty Chatty."

LOL! Yeah, I don't know if writing things like this in my normal notta writer voice is a good thing or not, but I guess as long as my books aren't that lax, I am okay.   Thank you for the cute sticker!
