The Broken Pyramid
This site was once the capital of the united Dragonborn nation of ancient times. When that nation fell in a disastrous war with the elves to the north and south, this city was destroyed and its golden pyramid was thrown down. A section of ruins in the outskirts of the old city still serve as a waypoint for caravans across the desert, due to the presence of a natural spring.
The ruins are still known to be dangerous, as many desert creatures value the shade and access to water provided by the area. The pyramid itself still attracts treasure hunters, researchers, and archaeologists searching for lost secrets or treasures referenced in any of the innumerable rumors surrounding the site.
