Soulsmithing
Utility
It's useful to fueling machinations, whilst there's been limits to what they've been able to craft so far, they've come farther than many other technologies with this form of knowledge. They're able to fuel firearms, hoverboards, even makeshift robot servants. It is currently being researched if there's a form of magic that can mix with Soulsmithing to see if we can allow dimensional travel, but they lack the reagents to perform such a spell thus far.
Manufacturing
The manufacturing of soultech requires deep knowledge of arcane knowledge, particularly necromatic magic, and through the use of Netherine crystals that can store Ectoplasm, an essence of the soul. These crystals are in limited supply, as they came from the underworld, thus there's reason to open a portal back to the underworld to restock it's supply and free Zhaos.
Social Impact
This technology allowed the Infernin to survive and thrive in their reclused home, it also shaped modern Infernin culture as of late. However, this has also given the Infernin a horrific reputation for the rumors of using souls.
Access & Availability
It's a secret provided to all members of Demon society, which was eventually passed down to Infernin society. It is near impossible to obtain outside of said society, however those outside said society abhor it and wouldn't wish for said technology either way.
Complexity
It requires an in depth knowledge of how the magic and technology works, requiring mentoring in order to fully discover it's capability, and years of mentoring to discover how to become a fully fledged Soulsmith.
Discovery
It was an art discovered by Zhaos. As they lacked many resources except magic, they had to get creative. What they had in excess were souls, thus Zhaos created various crystals to allow the demons to interact with said souls, gifting them magic to help extract an essence known as Ectoplasm, which they used as the backbone of their society.
