History

What makes the difference between a Siren and a Mermaid? Originally, there were only sirens, who tempted prey to the oceans to drown, but some fell for the more humanoid races, finding personal relationships with them. Their children were ostracized by the Siren kingdoms, finding them docile and out of touch with the heart of the sea's true wild and free heart.   These children were the birth of the merfolk, who slowly banded together. Their new form of blood, looking far more humanoid than their siren brethren and far less natural, were looked down upon for their disconnection with the sea, and were presumed to be differentiated from their aquatic deity, Abynyx.   Whilst there were some that chose to live on the land, most refused to leave their ocean homes, and would claim their own underwater kingdoms, albeit smaller than the Sirens, and lacking their siren songs, they had the power to move across the land, not to mention their ties to other races of the land.

Interspecies Relations and Assumptions

They have a burning hatred between the major Siren kingdoms. However they have a close relationship with the humanoid races along the shoreline.
