Flawed Arkanite
Scattered across the continents of Yesh and Clae are small shards of colourful, jagged crystal. Due to their somewhat broken appearance and abundance, they are largely dismissed as a fools-gold equivalent of gemstones, or given as small trinkets between new couples. Arcanists on Yesh and Druids on Clae have both put study into the curious crystals, however both parties did not find anything worthwhile enough to note, and as such they have remained a curiosity, their origins unknown, but without enough significance to merit further exploration.
Some larger Flawed arkanite crystals have been noted to hold low amounts of magical charge, leading hopeful arcanists to name the crystals arkanite, though years of experimentation in turning the crystals into storage vessels for arcana (magical power) led to the eventual conclusion that they were unsuitable, holding too little arcana at a time. The arcanists did note that a charged crystal while held by a spellcaster seemed to enhance or alter a casters spell. After doing so, the crystal is drained of its charge, and loses the ability to store arcana permanently, becoming a useless trinket.
Flawed Arkanite crystals are found in the following colours: Green, Red, Blue, Yellow, Orange, Pink, Purple and Black. The different colours of the crystals seem to correspond to the type of arcana the shards of crystal can store, and the effect on the spell cast using the shard of crystal, though no comprehensive list of colours and their corresponding effects currently exists.
Summary
Small jagged shards of crystal scatter the landscape of both Yesh and Clae. Mostly dismissed as trinkets, they hold some degree of magical ability, and their origin is unknown.
Historical Basis
The Crystals have been noted in jewelry and antiquities in sites holding the first pieces of written documentation.
Spread
In the publics eyes most dismiss flawed arkanite crystals as "Fools Gold". Some young lovers opt to collect their partners favourite colours in flawed arkanite crystals rather then flowers during the beginning of a relationship. Most vendors will not buy arkanite, though some magical vendors will opt to identify a crystal, ensuring it can hold some magical ability, and will offer fair trades for these. Little ongoing research is invested into the odd crystals.
In Literature
Some Poems, songs or books use Flawed Arkanite as a metaphor, referring to something that looks pretty but holds little value.
In Art
In school art projects students often decorate art pieces with small shards of colourful arkanite crystals
