Qi
The qi are fearsome ape-like creatures that cannot survive anywhere except for the coldest regions of Talica, more specifically the Frozen Domain. While incapable of speech, they have proven to have a high intelligence on multiple occasions, and their impact over the Mokke's culture has granted them great significance.
Basic Information
Anatomy
A healthy qi will have two arms and legs like tree trunks and lengthy tusks. Their eyes are round, small, and either yellow or blue. Their fur is invariably white, and they do not tend to stay dirty for too long. A non-white skinned qi is a very rare sight. They have two forefingers and a thumb, and a claw at the end of each.
Genetics and Reproduction
The qi are mammals very much like humans. They tend to birth only one babe at a time, after 14 months of gestation.
Growth Rate & Stages
Qi take several years to reach adulthood, although usually less than 10. Their fur becomes less soft, but longer during that time, and their size increases greatly too.
Ecology and Habitats
Qi can only inhabit and survive the Frozen Domain as their fur and body temperature is far too hot to any other non-snowy environment.
They enjoy a rare status among the northern creatures as a species most wolves are hesitant to prey upon. If the two sides do end in a conflict, either can emerge victorious, as the qi display a brutal strength they are more than capable of using for self-defense.
In the wild, qi spend most of their energy scavenging alone, rarely hunting creatures larger than fish.
Dietary Needs and Habits
Qi are the epitome of omnivores: they will eat almost anything they get their paws on, including moss, berries, fish, wolves, bears, meat, acorns and bugs. As such, feeding them is not as much a problem of quality as it is of quantity alone.
Biological Cycle
Unlike many creatures (humans come to mind), the qi become more docile as time goes on. The older they get, the less prone they are to temperamental outbursts and violence.
Additional Information
Social Structure
Qi are often solitary creatures with the exception of their mandatory mating season. They lack a social structure due to how limited their interaction with their own species is.
Domestication
Most qi have been domesticated by the Mokke and are used for carrying heavy cargo, occasionally transport as well. They tend to be slightly more docile and sociable than the wild ones, and thus less likely to rip anyone's head off. Their similarities to humans make them easier to accustom to human cities and civilization.
Average Intelligence
Multiple times the qi have shown an incredible ability to solve problems on their own, going as far as putting out fires instead of fleeing, combining and cooking different ingredients for enjoyment rather than survival, and bringing down buildings belonging to people they did not like. Experts agree it is best not to piss them off.
Perception and Sensory Capabilities
The qi seem to somehow be able to see past snowstorms and hear perfectly despite them as well. Their sense of smell doesn't seem to dwindle by the snow either.
