Lucius Vanderlay

Not much is known of Lucius before he was given to the Priesthood. He doesn't even know his age, but shortly after arriving, his oath was given to the mother, Lupretia.
The oath was his testicles, as all men in the faith are eunuchs. Lucius is of Abingdon stock. His tan skin was a rarity in the order, as many of the orphans were Easterners.
Lucius was given his education, a luxury to all members, where he excelled in writing, herbology, and healing. Lucius could not invoke the inner light. The sorcery that only one and twenty have the strength and ability to wield.
He was also trained in the art of combat since age seven and skilled in the weapons of the Red Order.
Nine years ago, the order sent him out to Breeston to gather information. The task was considered useless, a punishment Lucius thought. The interest in the Triad lands was minimal.
Lucius set up his ruse as an herb merchant and offered healing to many of the outer ward rabble when he arrived. In recent years, the silver circulating in the wards had evaporated due to poverty, and his interest in continuing his task for the order had waned to bitterness.
The many foragers, hunters, and mercenaries that visited had abandoned Breeston, so Lucius spent his time in the tavern complaining.
Eventually, his paths crossed with the Ravens, who were forming a rebellion, and they quickly recruited Lucius due to his military skill, education, and understanding of discipline.
He used his contacts with other frustrated members through his order to get him the needed components of the Mist. Once he perfected the poison, the rebel brigand distributed it to street hustlers the Ravens had employed.
The effects were devastating, and many were dying as Lucius kept supplying the dark substance. His contribution is vital, and he was promised a lucrative future when they achieved their overthrow of the Guild.
Lucius was blindsided when Eivar came to visit. He became afraid, and panic seeped into his thoughts. He made the decision to have his old master killed. It was hard but necessary, and it cost many armed men that got complaints among his fellow rebels.
He later had urged to Drew Vickards the healer from the Wail needed to be killed. Lucius was paranoid, thinking the man may have been sent from Karn to harm him. The attempt ended in failure in Faust, and since it was now known that two nobles were part of the group. It sent fear and concern to the Guild and within the appointed men that served the Ravens.
Drew and Lucius decided to have him arrested for making the Mist, deploying the scenario as a botched detainmant, leaving Vickards to secretly wisk him to the mines for future interrogation, and hanging another man in his place to appease the Guild and the commoners. The ruse being step two in the plan the Ravens are implementing to overthrow the Guild.
