Julius Wales-Timmons
Julius Wales was born in Tanner's Square in the outer wards of Breeston. He was an only child of a gong farmer who succumbed from illness, and he was adopted by the Timmons family. The patriarch worked with Julius's father, loading the wagons with the chamberpots of the commoners to dump into the puckerhole.
He was happy at this fortunate adoption because he had siblings, Osmond and his sister Faith, avoiding an orphans life which was a life of certain failure.
He grew up with Osmond his entire life and considers him his brother. The pair was mischevious and often fought with others, gaining good street fighting skills that would come in handy later.
He was educated in his early youth, and grasped some reading skill, but learning sums far better than most. He loved to sing, often complimeted on his voice. He grew up with Lucy Bennett and her future husband Wyatt Thames.
Sadly, he lost his adopted father from cholera, and it left him and Osmond to attempt to earn coin for the family at an early age. They toiled in the menial jobs of loading sacks, and pushing at the mills. Knowing this was gaining little funds as his adopted mother was now ill from melancholy.
After her death, the siblings went into despair. Faith left and went to being a strumpet in the outer wards as the brothers took jobs for the Ward Bosses. The dishonest jobs they did to earn coin made them ashamed. In time they were fortunate to learn monarchs, the dice game that all poor people played in hopes of winning coppers from one another.
Julius used his new talents, and still worked odd jobs, sang in taverns for food and acquired debts through gambling that he traded for favors instead of coin.
The brothers learned that anyone was desperate to keep coin, and would do a favor that could earn them more than the coin they were owed. Julius had the foresight to use the favors to provide a living, keeping him free of the dependance of the Guild for little wages.
In a few years they left the outer wards, settling in the Horn Ward in various inns, using their cunning means to dress in new wools and fitting boots. Julius grew a goatee that he keeps in a point to pull on when he is negotiating or in deep thought. He loves the color black, and dresses in it on most days.
Julius knows everyone he claims, and when he learned that the orphans who killed the Yellow Ravens were moving into the Frookuh next to him. He quickly introduced himself, and became friends of Harwin. He first thought of Edmund was of a pompous rolling dandy, but his curiousity of his new neighbours eccentric demeanor fascinated him. Harwin imposed on him to be his friend, something he thought his brother needed.
He never could break through, but was told by Harwin to challenge Edmund's ego and humble him. He did that, almost to the point of them fighting in the streets, but Edmund obliged him as he used a typical day in the outer wards to torment Edmund to his amusement.
In the end, they became mates, and while celebrating Edmunds introduction to real Breeston life, he confided to the group of a task that he accepted. A job escorting a healer and his apprentice in the Butcher's Wail to Lonoke.
He was rebuked by his brother Osmond for being gullible and in lust with the apprentice Camile, but after he revealed that he asked a costly sum of fifty gold falcons for each man. He was surprised that the ludicrous offer was accepted.
The group agreed in coming, in hopes that the new riches can be used to buy an inn of their own.
