Gaston the Brigand
Gaston was the first member of the Yellow Ravens captured for the city of Breeston to interrogate for information. He was bested by Harwin Parsons in single combat and, out of cowardice, chose to surrender.
He is broad, standing 6 ft., and weighing nearly eighteen stone. The brigand had little interest in robbing merchants but in killing them to spread fear. He claimed he was from Ankirk, hired by a man who went by Sloan Kendrik.
Arlo Withers, the head of the city constables, finds his story to be bollocks. The brigand had never set foot in Breeston, claiming he was offered five gold for any Guild man he could kill and bragged to have slaughtered seven.
Gaston believed he would be rescued, as the Ravens were too deep in control of the city to allow somebody as needful as him to be killed. His ambition was not of fortune but a deep belief that the Ravens were honorable in wanting the Guild to be killed for crimes against the people.
When asked who was paying him, he claimed a man from the northern lands was organizing this, named Ulrik.
Arlo had Faraway Wintergarden, the captain of the militia, send soldiers to apprehend these men by what description they were given.
Faraway claims they were told that he was seeking them and escaped. Arlo believes the militia bungled the task, losing the only lead they had.
Gaston was hanged in the plaza on Old Street. He looked dreadful and was held upright, looking dead until he began kicking when the rope lifted him off his feet. Many attended the execution as barley bread was provided for witnesses to improve the morale of the commoners, who always loved a good hanging.
