Faraway Wintergarden
Faraway is the captain of the Breeston militia and is the first man with a position that the two orphans, Harwin and Edmund, met.
He is one of a few aware that the two brothers are wards of nobility. Faraway was born in Meriweather. A village north of the Nyber River that separates the Guild nobles from the commoners. Faraway is a distant cousin of Fenster Wintergarden, the barge master of the Guild, so distant from the noble that Fenster can barely remember his name.
Faraway is considered a lackey and mocked in cups among his men for his unimpressive stature. He is short and squat, bald, and unattractive to most. Harwin Parsons found him unremarkable, with a mustache that swallowed his chin. "A wanker" he murmured to himself as he watched the man look upon them with arrogance.
Bitters considers him dim and too preoccupied with his low station in life that he does nothing to change it, hoping for some intervention from the Gods, so the Wintergarden family will need a favor from him.
Arlo Withers considers him lazy, aloof, and desperate. Who feels entitled to something and believes that he is so important that if he somehow dies, the whole city will fall into ruin.
Faraway has been pressured to provide results into the Yellow Ravens, producing nothing but corpses of merchants along the roadsides. Arlo believes many merchants and militiamen have died unreported, and the chatter among the taverns says that Faraway conceals the truth to retain his position.
