Thraea, Blade Maiden

Thraea Polycarp

Thraea, known to the townfolk of Gulderry as the Blade Maiden of the Transmuter's Estate, is one of the first athropomorphized objects. A high-level servant of The Transmuter, she is also one of the most commonly seen animants outside of the Estate, often accompanying her father to various government or religious functions as a personal bodyguard.

Physical Description

Special abilities

Thraea is surpisingly quick and nimble, a combination of traits borne of an innate connection to the divinatory arcane arts. She can create blue arcana focii to channel her ability to percieve an object as it was, is, and will be, as well as to generate or penetrate illusions. She is a proficient skulk, with her stealth greatly augmented by both her situational awareness and skill at the illusory arts. These traits make her a skilled bodyguard, though such services are rarely called for on the peaceful island of Gulderry.

Apparel & Accessories

Thraea prefers loose, light-colored clothing that provides for a wide range of motion. She only layers up when the cold becomes absolutely unbearable. Her favorite hue is blue, which she often employs in her clothing and makeup.

Specialized Equipment

Thraea is never seen without her thraex shield, shortsword, bow, and arrows. Unlike her closest brother, the estate warden William Flint, Thraea has never adopted contemporary firearms, complaining that they're too 'messy' for what she wants to do.

Mental characteristics

Personal history

Thraea is somewhat unusual among animants in that, while most take given names to better blend in with natural-born humans and retain an object-related name as a pseudo-surname, Thraea chose to invert this, making a feminized version of 'thraex' her given name instead. It is also unusual that, unlike the Transmuter's other sons and daugters, Thraea chose to take the Polycarp surname.

Social

Family Ties

As one of the very first animants, Thraea's place in the pocket society of the Tranmuter's Estate is one of relative prestige and respect. Most of the residents regard Thraea as a sort of older sister owing to her long experience - despite the fact that other animant women, such as Tanya Bushell, present as being older than her due to the slight variabilities of the transmutation process.

Buckett's List includes Thraea as one of the animants who went out looking for Dad-Wizard and hasn't come back yet. She was last seen heading towards the temple district.   Thraea's divinatory abilities told her that he was at the 'temple.' She was, however, unaware that her vision was about the abandoned Temple of Galatea and not the main temple in town. When she arrived, she was knocked unconscious by an unknown assailant - clearly, someone also able to employ illusionary magic to conceal his identity, though she notes that he wore the robes of a priest. She later awoke aboard a fishing boat floating just offshore in the Grand Triskele Lake, where the party may encounter her.   If found, Thraea tells the party that she thinks the Transmuter is safe - for now - but, because of the sensitive nature of where she thinks he might have gone, she is reticent to specifically tell the party where he is. If the party successfully persuades her (average difficulty), she admits that he probably visited the ruined temple in the woods in the south of Gulderry proper, but that her divinations are fuzzy due to the ancient wards around the place.
