Defiled Domain

Once silver towers kissed the dawn, And rivers sang through fields of fawn. But now the air is thick with stain The light is lost, the heart profane.
The bells that tolled for life now wail, Their echoes soaked in ash and shale. The sacred halls, by shadow chained, Stand hollow in this defiled domain.
No prayer ascends, no light remains, The soil weeps with ghostly veins. The trees bear fruit of blood and stone, Their roots entwined with every bone.
The wind remembers ancient cries, Of monarchs unmade and faith that dies. And though the walls still weakly stand, No soul is pure upon this land.
So tread with care, O child of flame For none return who speak its name. The gods avert, the stars abstain, From gazing on the defiled domain.
