Badlanders

It's best to keep an eye out tonight, Badlanders roam these lands at night. - Traveler
While most people often believe that The Gloom and its followers are the only threat to the people of Embera, they are greatly mistaken, as even their own people are just as dangerous. For roving bands of brigands reside in the wilderness that prey upon those who come across them. These individuals will take what they want to survive in the wilds, away from the safety of civilization, to live wicked lives. They go by many names, but the one that stands out the most is the badlanders, for their presence upon the land is never a sign of good fortune.

Loot: Badlanders steal anything, even what's nailed to the floor, their riches from the misfortune of others they preyed upon, with anything of value to them to bring back to the wilderness with them.

Perception

Social Status

Those of civilization have always feared badlanders, as they care little for anyone but themselves, adhering to their own laws that allow them to do as they please, believing that the strong are meant to conquer the weak. Bandlander bands are always something that many people fear for their ruthlessness in robbery and raids, especially on travelers and small settlements, which are easy to prey upon. To be one is a life of hardship and struggle, as they live out in the wilderness, subsisting on the land and often fighting one another to survive. Those who do enter settlements usually do so in secret or in places that have loose morals to spend their stolen gains for their own benefit. They are friends to no one and will face the law if they are caught, facing righteous justice for their wicked lives.

History

Lives of Twisted Morals

Badlanders have long been a dark chapter in the history of Embera, with their existence dating back to the Age of Crowns or even long before that, as wickedness always stands the test of time. They make up society's worst, being immoral, self-serving, and opportunistic at the expense of others in their community. Individuals such as these are cast out of society or flee it if they break its laws to live out in the wilderness that few dare follow them into. Those that survive long enough will have a chance to meet others of their kind, forming roving bands of raiders and thieves who take from others to survive, and take up the moniker of badlanders. They are some of the most common criminals that are found across Embera.   While most of these groups are often small and disorganized simply robbing travelers on the road, some bands have been known to combine their forces to become rooving bands that rob caravans and small settlements that are easy targets. But eventually larger ones are formed to create an army known as Reave Hordes ruled over by a Reave Master that have been known to wage wars, claim entire regions and settlement, as well as sacking cites with their numbers. Yet even amongst each other they will fight over plunder and power as there is no such thing as comradery among themselves to overcome there wicked nature. Groups can easily come together and fall apart in a matter of days should leadership fail amongst them. Leading to a life that can easily end in a matter of moments if they are unable to fight to achieve their own greed,
