Goden's Pass
Two ominous monoliths stand each side of this only way north of the Daggermaw. Looking out across the smoldering, mirage inducing barren wastes it is a total Juxtapose of the verdant green forests less than a mile to the south.
The sudden change from the firm but fertile soil on this side of the mountains to the unnaturally cracked and broken shale like stone past the pass, the very noticeable shimmering of heat and an unjust feeling of despair assail you make this an unnatural place indeed. Magic is clearly at play here.
Why would someone want to convert thousands of square miles into a burning hot wasteland? Who would have that power. When asked of the elves they say only that as long as they can remember the wastes have been there guarded by the monoliths they call "Teshuel Quarlani" which roughly translates to "Take Soul" in common. The giant monoliths, each side of the gateway, seem to watch you wondering what you are doing here. No sane mortal is going to venture past this point.
A large circular stone mosaic fills the ground before the monoliths like a giant warning to all. What remains of the picture meticulously laid out here depicts what was probably a horrible battlefield where two large dragon like creatures locked in battle seem to be engulfed in each others death throes.
Standing to the right of the mosaic is a small ivory colored fountain that looks untouched by time. A tiny stream of water fills its bowl to full but the water never flows over. More magic at play here.
Things to do:
- Turn back!
- No really!
- Only the dead walk beyond this point.
- Ok fine, drink some of that fountain water.
- Go on.
- Looks cool and clear doesn't it?
