Fletcherton

Nestled in a secluded valley in the Alps, Fletcherton is a very small, community with one uniting purpose. This small village provides the supplies, transportation, and resources for Phoenix Aerie. Most of the villagers have some connection to the rebirth cycle of the Phoenixes who maintain the vigil there.
Some villagers are the friends and family to the Phoenixes who are doing their turn at the Aerie watching for the rebirths of their kin. Other villagers have been raised in the community and are taught the stories of the Phoenix and consider it a sacred duty. And yet others are there because they have lost a Phoenix and are hoping against hope that the rebirth will happen during their lifetime and that they will be able to see their Phoenix again.
Unlike Phoenix Aerie, this village does connect to the rest of the world with road and does have access to modern conveniences. While it is deep in the mountains, the Phoenix themselves have arranged for fiber optic and other conveniences to be made available. The inhabitants can work remotely if they choose, and the village is unsurprisingly wealthy given its sponsorship.
Since this village is connected to the rebirth location for the Phoenix, it has not always been as it is now. The original village was only a few houses and some fields tended by the original villagers who were trying to settle there simply to form a community. The Phoenix, however, did not want humans that close to their rebirth grounds and the first few villages to attempt to populate the area were burned to the ground.
Eventually the persistent humans met a more open-minded rebirth of Phoenixes who formed an agreement for their mutual benefit. This lasted until the end of magic. Without the warmth provided by the Phoenixes rebirthing grounds, the land became inhospitable and the village once again sunk into ruin.
The return of magic turned the valley into a wonderland again. What should have been snowbound most of the year, was fairly temperate. The increased activity began to draw people back to the area, and the village was restored. In these modern times, since they have so much magical and technological protection to draw on, the Phoenix welcome the rise of this village as a place to provide some of the comforts of life while they are watchers. There is still no road or path to Phoenix Aerie, and a magical compulsion to avoid the area if you are not a Phoenix. They live in a symbiotic harmony.

Phoenixes are among my favorite legendary creatures! I liked a lot the idea and evolution behind this settlement :) Good job!
