2025 Homework

BINGO Tiles

  • What music, movies, games, and books inspired your worldbuilding? Or, if you're starting a new world, what inspired you to do so? Collect all of your inspirations in a single page now so you can quickly reference them during WorldEmber!
  • I intend to read the Daggerheart rule book and use the variety of character types within to expand on the magical residents of this world. I have added stubs for the various races.

  • Defining a realistic scope is essential to avoid burn-out. Your area of focus should be well-defined and something you're excited to work on. Within that area, think about what you want to write about exactly, and how deep you want your worldbuilding to be.
  • I want my writing to bring in a diversity of characters and potential new occupations for said characters in preparation for expanding the story to include a wider variety of experiences.

  • Choose your own homework! To complete this space, do something that you know will help you stay on track for your WorldEmber goal.
  • Read! Daggerheart, and other resources to expand my vision of The Rookery.

  • Most of the time, characters make or break the story. You don't need to come up with full characters (or even a full list) here, but think about the kind of characters one might encounter in your area. Are they welcoming? Cold? Suspicious of strangers? This will help you create the proper mood when writing next month.
  • In addition to the characters already created I will add more diverse characters both from the perspective of race and temperament. The world of The Rookery is very like our own with a wide range of welcoming to hostile, accepting to prejudiced.

  • The most important tool when writing about your world is... words! Make a list of words that describe the themes, tone, and mood of your world and make sure you're using them during WorldEmber!
  • The return of magic has created a schism.
  • There are those who embrace this new, interesting development. They learn new methods, and use the scientific principles to expand on knowledge new and old. They may even eschew technology and lean more heavily into magic.
  • There are those who reject magic and lean more into technology. There are also those who think that magic is evil and point to those who have been changed by magic and feel that they should be shunned or ejected from society.
