When children enter the Matrix for the first time they often are frightened and overwhelmed. To lessen any fears and apprehension the children might have, Mitsuhama Computer Technologies in conjunction with several research organizations teamed up to create Periwinkle. An autonomous AI smart bot that will befriend and guide children through the Matrix. Periwinkle is fully emotive, children can select from a plethora of color schemes and vocalizations for Periwinkle to use.
Periwinkle has a full suite of safety guidance overrides that enable it to prevent children from entering adult sites or restricted nodes while connected to the matrix. Periwinkle was also designed to protect it's designated child with content filters enabling Periwinkle to recognize other Matrix users as potential online predators and the ability to report them to Grid Overwatch Division.
Additionally for concerned parents and Child Protective Services, Periwinkle is also designed to report any malicious use of it by the children assigned to it. Causing Periwinkle to display inappropriate slogans, advertisements or horrible themes meant to cause shock are some of the programmed reasons to garner a report.
A typical day in the Matrix with Periwinkle might go as follows:
- The child returns home from their corporate sponsored school, a private academy or one of the rare public schools still functioning in an affluent area. Periwinkle will link to the child's school and download their assignments into a virtual place to learn. A place based on the child's personality and preferences and take the role of tutor. All this is assist and improve the child's ability to learn and grasp key concepts from the course work.
- Periwinkle also provides a safe space for children who do not yet attend school. By keeping them occupied and jacked into the Matrix, Periwinkle provides suitable entertainments, companionship and preschool learning where applicable.
- For older children Periwinkle can be a confidant to explore growing pains comfortably with. Or provide entertaining games and role playing adventures suitable based upon the child's age.
