Appointed leader over a region. Usually, though not always, the chief executive over the regions different Lawgraves.

Before the Dragon Wars: Regents have for the last thousand years been appointed either by Tiamat directly, or by the Vassal-Governor of that region.
After the Dragon Wars: Most Regents are chosen by popular vote by either members of their settlement only, or with the vote of all the incorporated settlements as well.

Duties
The duties of the Regent are, 1st: Serve as the Lawgrave of the city they are stationed in; 2nd: Resolve disputes between other Lawgraves/settlements of the region.
Responsibilities
Coordinating the goods, efforts and time reported to them by the Lawgraves that serve under them.
History
Before the Dragon Wars: Regents are a fairly new addition to the hierarchy installed by Tiamat. As larger and larger populations have made their lives into a particular region, either the Vassal-Governor or Tiamat has seen it fit to instill a more boots-on-the-ground executive to manage affairs.
After the Dragon Wars: Regents have remained the standard model of leadership in the freed parts of the world.
