Personal history

Raised by High Elven foreigners in the countryside of Ashguard, Lucatille's passions and pursuits brought her away from the calm serenity of the countryside to the hustle and bustle of Tycheron. It was early in her youth in Tycheron she discovered people speaking to her, that no one else seemed to be able to hear; as these voices didn't use words, but thoughts and emotions transmitted directly to her own. She sought for the ability to commune with these spirits from the various magical colleges in Tycheron, but when they could not provide her satisfactory answers she traveled the byways of Ashguard looking for someone who could. It was in these journeyings that she learned of the Vistani. A group of magical travelers who claimed to be able to commune with, among other entities, the spirits of the dead. The Vistani taught her their various Tarokka rituals, and found that she was particularly gifted at giving readings and interpretations. Now having acquired what she sought, she returned to Tycheron and used her abilites to try and aid and alleviate the burdens of others; working as a street-corner fortune teller.

After a number of years, one day a man stopped at her corner. He introduced himself as Alexxis. He was unlike any other person that had stopped by for a reading. Alexxis was in want of nothing. Perfectly satisfied. Happy. He had come to ask Lucatille for a reading on herself. Surprised, she gave him "his" reading, and the spirits were particularly strong. As the reading went on, she felt increasingly that she wanted this satisfaction and happiness this man seemed to have; but more than that she found herself wanting him in her life. He felt the same. He had in actuality come to learn more about this beautiful stranger he passed by on his commutes so very often.
After a time courting, the pair got married in the Tycheron Temple of Tiamat. They were desperatly in love. Alexxis' presence had a way of calming the incessance of the spirits that would often come to plague Lucatille. While hers brought in a light that, despite his satisfaction, had been missing from his life up to that point; and that light increased in brightness every day. Alexxis one day, however, began to get very sick. So Lucatille dedicated herself to fortune-telling to try and scrounge together the funds for healing spells for Alexxis; as well as doing readings to see if the spirits knew of a solution. However, despite the casting of many spells and utilization of many rituals, none availed. The readings all coming back with energy and messages of hopelessness and anger. The clerics of Tycheron came to the conclusion that Alexxis had been cursed from the influence of the Ashlands to the south. Unable to procure a cure for him, Alexxis eventually died. Lucatille gave up on her readings and rituals, attempting to forsake her powers. The voices of the spirits still haunted her, but she resolved to keep them to herself.
However, she discovered that Alexxis' voice called out to her. Distraught, she brought herself to where she had interred him, the Waywent Shrine and Mortuary. There she encountered Alexxis' baleful spirit, unable to proceed to an afterlife; like the other spirits that called to her. Seemingly trapped by the necromantic influence of the Ashlands. Unable to bear this fate that had befallen her beloved husband, she resumed her soothsaying in hopes of becoming powerful enough to set his spirit at ease. So she resumed telling fortunes and speaking on behalf of the spirits, and she did so on the corner of the mortuary where her husband was interred.
It is in this stage of her life that Lucatille receives the invitation that would determine the paths she would walk for the rest of her life up to the present time. She was invited to join the Thieves Guild. For a more complete recounting of Lucatilles's adventures with the Thieves Guild, please read the WorldAnvil page 'The Thieves Guild'.

It was through her trials experienced alongside the Thieves Guild, that Lucatille's power grew to the place she had been after. To relieve Alexxis' spirit, and help him proceed to the afterlife. Though the result was not entirely what she had expected. She did, indeed, grow tremendously powerful in the ways of both divination and necromancy; but she never had the chance to use these new found powers on Alexxis' spirit. One day, she returned to his grave, and his spirit was no longer there. Alexxis had moved on to the afterlife. Perplexed, Lucatille sought out answers. Though this time, she was able to find them herself. Communing with spirits that knew Alexxis as he was trapped between life and afterlife, they explained to her that it was no curse or influence of the Ashlands that had kept him there. It was worry. Worry over Lucatille and what would become of her without him. He had held on to the Ethereal Plane wanting to be sure that Lucatille would be alright without him, and that she would be able to take care of herself. When he realized she would, his spirit carried on in peace.
This revelation granted Lucatille great peace and comfort even in the loss of her beloved. She now knew that she could face this world in confidence.

Still a prominent member of the Thieves Guild, Lucatille eventually took on more of the role of an advisor. As well as her well developed wit, cunning, and insight granted her audience with Regent Senua Voldren. Lucatille eventually being granted an honorary seat in the House of Regents as an advisor. This is where Lucatille's story concludes at the present, but there is no doubt that "Old Lady Lucatille" (as her fortune-telling patrons now lovingly refer to her as) will be heavily involved in many consequential events to come.
