Him c Tronilkava - The Hills of Tranquility

The first Loxodon introduced to the world were these pious followers of the Dawnfather.   An ancient group of Humans who would gather around an altar to Pelor and write and rehearse poetry to His Holiness were selected to become his chosen people; and so they were blessed with their present state, as well as further light and knowledge about the universe and their place in it.   Their message is clear: All life is good, and that which is not presently good is simply strayed from a better path: And we must usher them back down it.

Naming Traditions

Feminine names

The females include many softer, more elegant sounding names that when said give off an air of sophistication: Mayuj, Elyuja, Fanoor, Verij, Katrun, Soofya, Zoorja, and so on.

Masculine names

The males choose for themselves more domineering names with sturdier consonants, with occasionally much longer names: Radomoev, Svatel, Domonorkorium, Herujomet, Throomnorium, Droozh, and so on.

Family names

There are no family names in the Hills tribe. Children are assigned a name upon their assigning a role in the tribe describing that role. The prefix being Flean (for Higher/Elder) and Thia (for Lesser/Younger as well as Pael (for Acting/Temporary).
Until that time, children are called 'Son' or 'Daughter' or some variation of 'My Child'.
All the names for tribesmen are heavily resonant, with many 'vah', 'tha', and 'oo' sounds, with many accessory 'j' sounds.
However, each tribesmen chooses a Common name for themselves for easier interaction with non-tribesmen. Examples of these are given above.

Art & Architecture

The Loxodon are master stone workers and masons; their architecture is very middle eastern, with lots of domes and columns.

Birth & Baptismal Rites

The birth of a newborn is the most sacred event in the tribe. They view the birth of a newborn as the arrival of a soul who was righteous enough or devout enough to Pelor to where they have been reborn into his chosen people. As such the annual celebration of that tribesmen's birth is observed and honored with great attention.

Coming of Age Rites

A tribesman is considered having come of age at the 30th anniversary of their birth. It is then that the youth is assigned a role in the community to which they swear to uphold. Each role has a different initiation rite; for example, the Judge role (Flean/Thia-Seemshop) has the youth consider a case (never criminal) and give a verdict based on interpretation of the Tenants, the Historian role (Flean/Thia-Otharwort) has in recent years begun considering sending out the initiate into the world to bring in knowledge that the Hills had not yet known.

Ideals

Gender Ideals

Both sexes are raised and glory in modesty. The women and men are assigned different roles in the tribe, though more by tradition than commandment. Excepting for the position of High Chief (Flean-Thouthar men and women have held this position each a number of times.

Courtship Ideals

The tribe honor the Law of Chastity, only having sexual relations between those who are wedded before the eyes of Holy Pelor. But the members must reach the age of 260 before they are considered ready to be wed (Loxodons living upwards of 800 years).
