Bahamut, the Platinum Dragon

The Sacred Charge (A Prayer to Bahamut): "I lift up your name, O Thou Good and Gracious One, and pray to uphold your sacred charge.

Let me protect those around me, as your wings enfold us.

Let me seek for truth, as your eyes watch over us.

Let me strike against wickedness, as your talons defend us.

Let me resist temptation and falseness, as your heart guides us.

As the Gods began descending into the world, Their creation, Tiamat struck down Bahamut and reduced Him to His Primordial Form. In which He was unable to descend into the world He had helped create. So for nearly 1,000 years He would wait, slowly regenerating over the course of that thousand years. Finally, through the aid of Gods, Dragons, and Mortals: He finally entered the world.

Bahamut is known mostly by His title, Platinum Dragon; for it was His intention to create the Dragons Metallic upon descending into the world. He is also referred to as 'The Dragon-God of Time', for it is His role to maintain the flow and direction of Time. He is the God of Honor, War, & Time.

The Platinum Dragon is often seen emblazoned on shields and armor, both functional and decorative, in the form of a brilliant dragon head in profile. Temples and works of art depict a massive, glittering dragon with vibrant platinum scales and a seemingly endless wingspan.

Stand as a paragon of honor and justice.

Smite evil wherever it is found, yet show compassion to those who have strayed from the path of righteousness.

Defend the weak, bring freedom to the persecuted, and protect the ideals of justice and order.

Holidays

The first established holiday of followers of Bahamut is the 27th of Skarpla, the Day of the Bright Star. The Seeker known as Bright Star was the first paladin of the Platinum Dragon, and he is used as the example and paragon for the Order bearing his name. The 27th of Skarpla, 22 YH, is the day Bright Star passed into the afterworld. On that day, the Everlight (Bright Star having been Her first Champion) placed a star in the night sky and called it the Bright Star; and on the 27th of Skarpla, it grows even brighter. On this day, under the light of the Bright Star: Priests, Paladins and Followers of the Platinum Dragon recommit themselves to the principles of Bahamut with the 'Sacred Charge' prayer.
The other holiday is known as Embertide, and is actually the biggest holiday for followers of Bahamut. It takes place the night of the 30th of Goa (The last month of Winter) and it is an honoring celebration for those who passed the previous year. The evening is spent in feasting. Then worshippers make idols of those who passed that year, place them on a longship fashioned after the Platinum Dragon, sail it out to sea, and then a priest or paladin of Bahamut fire a lit arrow at the ship, thereby symbolically taking those aboard to live on at Mt. Chronias with the Platinum Dragon. The onlookers and worshippers sing hymns as the longship sails away.

Divine Goals & Aspirations

He and Tiamat are foils of the other. One Lawful Good, the other Lawful Evil. One the creator of the Metallic Dragons, the other the Chromatic Dragons. Each would impose order on the inhabitants of Talam'h. Though the Platinum Dragon is dedicated to the prosperity and good will of mortals. With His church, the Platinum Canonicate, He seeks to establish His values of Lawful Goodness in the lives of His followers and their communities. With His chivalric military, the Order of the Bright Star, He establishes Lawful Goodness through the uprooting of evil and the fortification of Justice.
