A few months ago I was making coffees in a cafe back in Ghal Pelor, now I'm rummaging through the ruins of Carda looking for old gnome stuff. It's exciting! Pretty concerning considering how unqualified I am for this... but exciting too!

  Oaths come in many forms, some sworn to gods, nations, or ideals, others make promises to people they'll never meet. Jellibye Granoa made a promise to recover precious fragments of her family's history- honoring the sacrifice of relatives long dead so that future Granoas might have a future.   Jellibye's life began in Ghal Pelor, where her mother moved to the big city from Homestead a few years after her father's and little brother's death. They, like so many other good Gnomes, were killed by Lockland raiders. Jellibye's mother, Lufa, couldn't handle the stress of raising her daughter in a region plagued by these kinds of hate-fueled attacks. Thus, Jellibye would be raised in the cosmopolitan heart of the continent, and living among people who hailed from every culture Tairos had to offer. Lufa spent her days working in the glass studios of Artisan Row on the city's southern side, while her daughter learned in the mixed classrooms of Crowcoil. This life free from Lockland's ever-present threat came with consequences as well. Jellibye grew up with little connection to the piecemeal fragments of the gnomish culture that Homestead offered. She was truly Ghal Pelorians first and gnome second, a trade-off Lufa was willing to make. She had precious little time to teach her daughter about Homestead between her many shifts at the glass studios. And, even if time permitted, memories of Homestead were painful to dwell on. For her, it was better Jellibye embrace life as a citizen of Ghal Pelor rather than cling to a made-up version of gnome culture or pine for a return to a region plagued by Locklander Pogroms.   That's what Jellibye did. She threw herself into Ghal Pelor's culture - studying medicine at the university with the hopes of becoming a doctor at Mercy Hill Hospital, working as a barista in the many coffee houses and tea shops of Monument Square, and partying all night with friends in Ravensperch.   Things would change when Lufa became ill. Too frail to work, she moved into a care facility in Crowcoil, typically for retired city workers, Shady Willows Retirement Home. With limited time left, Lufa began to regret leaving Homestead and casting aside their culture. In particular, Lufa regretted that the Granoa bloodline had dwindled to just her and Jellibye. Jellibye, wanting to try and find a way to raise her mom's spirits as her mother's time grew short, promised to venture to the old Granoa farmland and recover the family's Namebook. Lufa's condition continued to spiral, and Jellibye remained by her side to the end. After her passing, she gathered together what few belongings mattered and set out for Carda to fulfill her promise.   Leaving Ghal Pelor behind was difficult; it was the only home and only way of life she'd known, yet turning back was never a thought that crossed her mind. Jellibye embarked on a quest that would take her across the continent and to the lawless territory known as Ridley's Prospect, a bordertown primed to plunder what secrets are left in Carda's ruins for themselves. Here, she and whatever allies she can muster race to the ruins before Lupin Ridley and his glorified grave robbers and defile them. The treasure Jellibye is seeking has no value to these prospectors, but they'd trample it all the same on their way to glory. Yet, it's not just these amoral explorers that stand in her way. The lingering remnants of the Shadow Court may still lurk in the depths of this region along with the voracious Sahuagin who helped to butcher her people.   Knowing all this hasn't stopped Jellibye. Youth, combined with her oath to Lufa... as well as her plucky attitude, have pushed her to the ends of Tairos. Those who know her know that Jellibye is willing to go even further than this to keep her promise and return her family namebook to Homestead.     Jellibye Working at a Cafe
