The following are additional optional rules for use with Dungeons and Dragons 2024 Bastion rules. Instead of gaining two Basic and two Special facilities at level 5, a player gains their basic choices at level 3 and then all special facilities in accordance with the existing system in the 2024 Dungeon Master's Guide. They gain one Cramped and one Roomy sized basic facility. These facilities may be increased in size per the existing rules, and new basic facilities may be purchased.
Below are the basic facilities found in the 2024 Dungeon Master's Guide with additional beneficial game mechanics.
Bedroom
Description: This is a space fit for a good night's rest along with space for your toiletries, clothing, and similar creature comforts.
Example: Bedrooms are fairly standard for most people but this also accommodates any special needs a species may need such as pools for aquatic creatures, maybe a perch or nest instead of a bed for avians, etc etc
Benefit: The bedroom's owner gains +1 additional Hit Die per size category of the bedroom. These bonus Hit Dice can be spent normally
Dining Room
Description: This is a location designed for eating meals and helping diners get the most from their eating experience. They're places of comfort and designed for communal gathering.
Examples: This can a fancy dining room adorned with noble decore, a simple long table with bench seating, or an open-air fire pit with camp style accommodations
Benefits: Long Resting at this location lets the owner and up to two others per size category of the room gain a point of Inspiration (up to their maximum)
Parlor
Description: Parlors are places to gather and enjoy the company of others, or a spot designed for relaxing solitude.
Examples: This can a small beer hall, a comfortable living room, an actual parlor with fine liquor and comfortable seats, or even just a private reading nook with your favor stacks of books and snacks.
Benefits: The owner and up to one additional person per size category of the room gain +3 temporary HP per size category of the room
Courtyard
Description: This is an outside area of your home that is dedicated to relaxation, nature, personal health, or similar self-enrichment
Examples: This may be a pool, a courtyard designed for some kind of sport, a topiary or similar aesthetic garden, or similar such places designed for tranquil relaxation
Benefit: Long Resting here gives the owner and one character per size category of the room a special die that can be rolled once per session after any die roll is made. This roll is added to the total of the previous die roll. This die is a D2 for a Cramped facility, a D4 for a Roomy facility, and a D6 for a Vast facility.
Kitchen
Description: This facility is designed to store and prepare your food. It will include space to keep food and the equipment to make sure it lasts as long as possible as well as basic cooking implements too.
Examples: While the purpose of a kitchen is universal, the layout and nature may differ based on the cuisine it specializes in producing. It could be anything from an outdoor grill, a brewery or distillery, a traditional kitchen, or bloody butcher's workshop.
Benefit: When expending the owner's camp supplies, the user can reroll one Hit Die per size tier of the kitchen and take the higher of the two results
Storage
Description: This is an area of one's home dedicated to storage, organization, and optimization.
Example: Basements, attics, garages, and outdoor sheds are all perfect examples of a storage room.
Benefit: You reduce the gold cost of new facilities or expanding existing ones by 5%. This increases to 10% for a Roomy storage and 15% for a Vast storage. Also, when rolling for Bastion events you may increase or decrease the rolled result by D2. This increases to D4 for Roomy storages and D6 for Vast ones
