Taeva Primer
The Primeval Age
The world of Taeva was first brought into being by the divine spirits known as the Elari, who would go on to create the Dragons and the Giants to further shape the world. However, despite their shared purpose, it wasn't long before the Dragons and Giants would come into conflict with one another, each believing themselves more deserving of claiming sole dominion over the mortal world, a conflict that saw the Dragons emerge the victor. In time, even their dominion over the world would come to an end, as a schism would form among the Dragons over the matter of the newly emerging mortal mages. This schism would lead to another conflict among the Dragons, one that saw their numbers reduced and scattered across the world. With the chaos of the Primeval Age drawing to a close, the path had been cleared for the mortal races of Taeva to begin carving out their own place within the world.
The rise of magic and the Mage Empires
The early days of the rise of magic were a chaotic time for the inhabitants of Taeva, with the first mages being responsible for much of this chaos through their inexperience with this new power, as well as their conflicts with one another. This chaos would eventually settle, with many great Mage Empires (such as the Elven Ithyrian Empire or the ancient Sythssyan Empire) rising across the world, though a number of other great nations (such as the old empire of the Dwarves or the mythic lost kingdom of the Orcs) have also risen during this time. Even these mighty empires would fall in time, though their ruins and relics continue to be objects of fascination for adventurers and scholars alike.
