Kythorite
Kythorite is a form of Drakonite uniquely formed from the petrified body of Kythoran, the ancient Dragon venerated by the Seekers of the Fallen Dragon. While ordinary Drakonite forms from the remains of long dead Dragons, Kythoran is still very much alive (though imprisoned), a fact that has given this material some unique properties. It's thanks to these properties that this material has become so invaluable to the Seekers, who hold it as sacred to their rites and goals.
Properties
Material Characteristics
Kythorite is a crystalline material similar to Drakonite with a deep green light mixed with smoky black wisps emanating from within, though it's much murkier in opacity compared to Drakonite.
Physical & Chemical Properties
Those who are exposed to Kythorite claim to feel a strange presence that persists for as long as they are near the material.
Geology & Geography
Kythorite can only be harvested from the petrified body of Kythoran, which rests within the heart of the stronghold of the Seekers of the Fallen Dragon.
Origin & Source
Kythorite originates from the petrified body of Kythoran, and is impossible to recreate in any way.
History & Usage
Everyday use
Kythorite is typically used as a component in the rituals of the Deekers of the Fallen Dragon, as well as in the creation of religious artifacts tied to the cult, weapons, armour, and other items. There is, however, one particular quirk unique to Kythorite; It can be used to scry on others, either by Kythoran himself or one of the inner circle, and if the individual doing the scrying has a stronger will, they can influence, or outright dominate, their target through the material. This property is only known to Kythoran himself and the cults inner circle, who use it as a means of ensuring the loyalty of their followers without their knowledge.
Cultural Significance and Usage
Kythorite is immensely significant to the Seekers of the Fallen Dragon, who see it as a gift from their master in recognition of their dutiful service.
Manufacturing & Products
Kythorite is used to create many of the items used by the upper ranks of the Seekers, including weapons, armour, and staves.
Hazards
Like ordinary Drakonite, Kythorite can cause Aetheric Anomalies in it's vicinity as a result of its immense Aether, though the resulting anomalies are always corruptive or destructive in nature. Additionally, those who've been exposed to Kythorite for too long, or who have displeased Kythoran in some way, risk being reduced to mindless husks under his command.
