Ehalone (Eh-ah-low-neh)
Ehalone is a large port city on the coast of the Argent Sea in south-western Caelora, and a major point of naval trade with Ilyalon and the Silverlight Isles. Not only does this city see the exchange of many goods between the two kingdoms, but also ideas, with elements of Moon Elven art and architecture having mingled with the High Elven aesthetic of the city over the ages. Between it's unique blend of aesthetics and it's picturesque seaside landscape, it's little wonder Ehalone is considered a tourist hotspot among Elven cities.
Demographics
The majority of the cities population is of High Elven descent, though there's also a sizeable Moon Elf population. Most of the cities population consists of traders, artisans, and scholars.
Government
The city of Ehalone is overseen by a Lord, typically elected from one of the nobility of the Great Houses, who answers directly to the monarchy of Caelora. Most of the taxes collected within the city are put towards maintaining its infrastructure, with a portion of it being sent as a tithe to the reigning monarch.
Defences
Ehalone is protected by a stone wall with two gates (one facing north, the other facing east), and can call on any Caeloran ships in the area to aid in defending the city against naval attacks.
Industry & Trade
As a coastal city, Ehalone has a bustling naval trade industry (primarily with the Moon Elves), which also serves as the primary source of income for the city. Additionally, a number of artisinal works of both High and Moon Elf make are produced here.
Infrastructure
A number of markets, scholariums, and artisan workkshops are found within the city, all connected by a network of stone roads. There's also a large harbour, which serves as the center of commerce. Additionally, the older sections of the city remaining from the time of Ithyria still contain ancient aetheric mechanisms in their architecture, much of which is still in use.
Assets
Due to its location on the coastline of the Argent Sea, Ehalone has access to a number of aquatic resources such as fish, as well as a large port that facilitates naval trade along the west coast of Imera. Additionally, there are a number of facilities for scholarly and artisinal work, as well as a large marketplace, within the city.
Tourism
As a major port city, Ehalone sees many visitors from abroad, and while most of those who visit the city are of High or Moon Elf descent, a number of visitors from the neighbouring Human kingdoms (particularly the kingdom of Myrell). Whether they come for business, to admire the unique blend of culture and art, or to enjoy the coastal scenery, Ehalone has plenty to offer visitors.
Architecture
Much of the architecture of Ehalone follows the graceful aesthetic typically found among the High Elves, though years of cultural exchange have resulted in a number of traits from the Moon Elves being integrated, including a focus on providing a clear view of the night sky (usually through large windows or open air layouts), as well as a number of artistic motifs relating to the night sky and moon.
Geography
Ehalone is surrounded by grassy plains to the north and east, wit the west side of the city faces the coastline and Argent Sea beyond.
