Dreamstruck

While travelling through the Fae Realm, or near any rifts leading to it, carries a number of risks, one does not need to come anywhere near it to be affected by it. This is best seen in the condition of becoming Dreamstruck, a state of dreamlike detachment brought on by consuming the Niati fruit (also known as Niathas Folly), a fruit native to southern Vraelia known for its strong effects on the mind of its consumer. While a rare occurance, the risks presented by this condition nonetheless make it a hazard to all those affected by it, and serve as the largest reason for the rarity of the Niati fruit outside of its natural habitat.

Transmission & Vectors

The Dreamstruck condition can only be transmitted through food are drink created from the Niati fruit.

Causes

Symptoms

Those who are Dreamstruck are universally described as being in a constant state of dreamlike detatchment from the rest of the world, often milling about aimlessly and being mostly unresponsive to outside stimuli. This often takes the form of vivid, lucid dreams, often tied to pleasant memories or desires, which frequently bleed over into reality in the form of vivid visual and auditory hallucinations.

Sequela

Cultural Reception

Becoming Dreamstruck is a well-known and understood condition among the Xothgi, who are native to the region where the Niati fruit grows. It wouldn't be until the fruit was mistakenly brought back to Imera that this condition would become known beyond Vraelia.
