Cleric
Among the numerous faiths of Taeva, few elements are as universal as the Clerics. While their names and abilities may vary, all Clerics are recognised by the common trait of being able to use Divine Magic, a unique form of magic that draws on faith rather than Aether. While many Clerics are content to serve their faith alongside their fellow faithful, it's not uncommon to see a Cleric accompanying an adventuring party further abroad.
Career
Qualifications
In order to become a Cleric, one must be a member of a particular faith, usually a member of the clergy, and have a particularly strong level of faith.
Career Progression
Clerics can progress through the ranks of their associatted church in much the same way as any other member of the clergy.
Payment & Reimbursement
All Clerics are supported and compensated for by their associatted church.
Other Benefits
Clerics enjoy the full support of their associatted church, as well as the respect of the faithful. They also enjoy the privilege of being able to call on the power of the Elari themselves through Divine Magic, but only for as long as they continue to show a strong level of faith, and continue to follow the tenets and values associatted with them. Additionally, those who choose to take up the adventuring lifestyle are a welcomed presence within their party, as the Divine Magic at their command has often been the difference between victory and disaster.
Perception
Purpose
While Clerics largely dedicate themselves to the same tasks as their fellow priests and priestesses, their ability to use Divine Magic has made them suitable for dealing with issues beyond the power of the regular clergy, as well as being the foremost defenders of their faithful.
Social Status
Because of the power they command, as well as the unwavering dedication they must show in order to maintain this power, Clerics are well regarded within their faith and wider community.
Demographics
Clerics are found among the ranks of the clergy of the faith they belong to.
Operations
Tools
Clerics wear clothing similar to the priesthood of their faith, though theirs is often designed for greater ease of movement and defence, and they typically carry many of the same items as well (holy books, divine symbols, etc.). Those who venture further out (such as adventurers) often carry a simple weapon for self-defence.
Workplace
Clerics are typically found working in the churches and temples of their faith, as well as wherever an adventuring party they've joined takes them.
Provided Services
While Clerics perform many of the same duties as their fellow clergy (tending to their temple/church, overseeing/assisting with sermons, etc.), they also tend to issues of a more arcane origin, as well as provide support for any adventuring parties that would have them.
Dangers & Hazards
Clerics who participate in adventuring face greater risks than those who stay within their temple.
