Chapter 9

Alder begins learning about his own magic as I connect with Camellia, who promises to stay with us for eight months until she has to sleep. Bran and I bring Vaneili into the Dreaming and help her access it more easily. As we leave Deldrin we speak with Camellia about our goals and our racial history, including the War we fought against fae and trolls. She chooses to stay with us anyway. We encounter the Weaver’s Village and find parallels of shade and welcome in a place that once housed ancient elves. We arrive at the Crystal Spires and grapple with all the emotions one would expect. We approach in many worlds along with Thalien and Lyssa, fighting off flaming hounds until we reach Ava, Kadia’s teacher. He has been sheltered in another world with many other slumbering Osyr whom we save, dousing the autumnal fire with winter’s magic.
