I receive a second letter through the Shadowgate which includes the remains of Osyr that we must return to the sea. We meet a former Imperial spymaster who has made a blended family and has a daughter with a human woman. We approach Brighton and find it deeply unappealing due to slavery, religion, and petty duels. We meet Nienne, an elvish duchess-by-marriage and former duelling professor. I find Lyssa and in the Dreaming and learn a bit about dwarvish castes and how the Valley is different. We encounter Nidrae and learn about the ritual performed by the followers of the Candlemaker and Fisherman. We free Nidrae of his curse but Bran falls near death and I must drag him back from the Dreaming when the Weaver’s healers refuse to do it themselves. In the aftermath Nidrae tells us of the Severed and I instruct him to “end slavery”.
