Chapter 27

After arriving in the Eldritch Grotto I befriend a spirit named Wayin and begin learning the magic of life but get pulled away by tremors in the earth. Thalien and I track the tremors to the Capital City of Deep Refractions, the place where Kaide's friend Yule ruled. There, I encounter an adjudicator and learn more of the pacts and contracts forged in ancient times to end the War of Fire and those that might continue to influence the Ingans and the Collective. The adjudicator describes my presence as corrosive but seems pleased that I'm seeking to resolve the conflicts of the war, agreeing to help if he can. Kaide, Lyssa, and I descend into the Capital City of Deep Refractions and find the ruins of the city Kaide once called home, guarded by her dragon godson, Onyx. We pass a few days with stories and planning, then part ways with Lyssa and return to the Grotto to continue learning the magic of life. At the end, Ipthina tells me to return when I've gathered the other components and then there will be a way to gather the Essence by linking myself to Wayin.
